I would be very interested to know what kind of commission would the trader charge for this sort of consignment sale. 25-30%?

Commission

Hey 2careless!

The commission is 15% of the sale price. Quite fair really.................a

That comment wasn't directed at you. I knew you were the real deal all along; only those that haven't read the thread are out of the loop.

Nah Abi, you're cool. I was referring to 1000ftSub. Some of these folks start posting before they read through an entire thread. Not wise on this forum.

With the sale handled by a professional trader, you should realise correct value for this watch Abi. Good luck with the sale and if you got another DRSD or similar, do let us know.

It's very interesting to go back and re-read this thread to see the level of certainty in some people's minds that this was a scam. A lot of searing comments were made. Of course, we frequently see threads on TRF wondering "what is this watch worth." I think it's important to remember that for some of us, me included, a double-red Sea Dweller would have been looked at as merely an old, scratched, slightly ugly watch prior to joining TRF and learning the ropes.

DRSD Rules OK!

Oh I've been learning alright, I pride myself on my flexibility and broad-mindedness. When you stop learning, the game is up. I thought I had an old watch that was past it's use by date. I have since learnt otherwise. I never realised people could be so heartless in their critique of unknown people who they've never met. I always give people the benefit of the doubt and see what happens. It's far more interesting than bagging somebody and it's possible to learn something...........a

Sometimes, we learn the hard way. I collect vinyl LP records and have a serious two-channel stereo system. An elderly neighbor gave me a box of her deceased husband's old LPs when I first began the hobby. I leafed through them but decided the music wasn't to my liking and tossed the box in the trash.

Unfortunately, like the music or not, the box was full of Blue Note mono and deep groove LPs in pristine condition, which I would eventually learn were worth about $100-200 each. OUCH!

Vinyl

Funny that! I collect vinyl too and have one of the first portable Phillips valve stereophonic players which I cherish and use to this day. It has an authentic sound, not exactly hi-fi but I like the warmth of the tone. I have heaps of old Jazz records most of them in mint condition, some of which I haven't played yet. I went mad at Tower Records in LA many years ago and bought magic music for $2-$4 each. Real classics, I just lerv them..............a

One man's trash is another man's treasure. To be honest that double red is still just an old beat up watch. Give me a shinny yellow DD any day.

My bufoon remark only applied to those who were too free with their negative words, they know who they are. I also thanked those who helped me a number of times. I reiterate those thanks to those who helped me and I really did appreciate the good bits which were many but I had just had a skinful of being called a scammer. The whole process has been a learning experience for me, on many levels. Thanks again guys................a

The inside of the case-back looks improper on this watch for that series of Serial number. I think it is supposed to have the last three digits of the S/N engraved in there. Also the 1665 engraving looks suspect, its not clean stamping.

Isn't this a 1.7 Million Series S/N.

I'll be the first to say that I have only been absorbing all the info on the 1665 I can find on the web for the last couple of weeks. But the info I have gleaned appears to be valid.
