PAM 832 Purdey Sealand??

So I was at the AD the other day,
my sales told me "There's something you might be interested"

Then he showed me this... PAM 832 with elephant engraving.

I'm just wondering, is this watch really a collector's piece?
If so, what's the reasonable price? Cuz the price range I've seen is kinda huge... and there's not very many info out there.

Panerai lovers, please help!

The Purdey SE models don't do anything for me. Imho, I see them as pieces for Panerai collections rather than as watches to be worn - nothing wrong with that of course. From a practical point of view, I would not want a hunter case lid over the dial of a wristwatch (even a nicely engraved one)

I'm not an expert on SE pricing/value, but I don't believe these command the same premiums (if at all) as some other SEs.

Cheers

They are not uber collectable. I'd be sooooo scared to wear it as that Purdy ingraving can be damaged so easily.

I don't have enough money to have a watch for just having the watch and not wearing it, so I vote pass, unless you love it.

I like it, specially Jules Verne engraved. If you like it, go for it.

Also not for me. I think it takes a special person to pull off wearing one of these. It's hard enough wearing these giants on your wrists, but put a finely engraved lid on top of that ... the flip side is that you will get lots of comments!

its not my cookie either, but as for most of the SE's there will be a market for them , however have to agree with all off the above that its not really a wearable piece IMHO.

My take on it, If you want a watch, buy a watch. If you want a shotgun, buy one. It's best not to try to combine two hobbies or you may wind up with a "spork", which is not too good at either. Remember it's just MY oppinion.
