I've been wearing watches since middle school and I think went through a few Casios. I got a Fossil my senior year in high school which was my first non-sport watch. I still have it, although the chronograph functions no longer worker. I picked up a Seiko chronograph some time during college and that lasted a few years before the inside got corroded do to the breakage in the seal. Probably from replacing the battery.
I got my first Swiss watch a few years ago which was a Tissot PRS200, also a chronograph, and I still have that. I think it's still a good watch and it does look nice. Of course it doesn't compare to my LV, but from $450 USD to $5525 USD, I would hope not. |

Well you’re talking about 1988, so it was an assortment of Swatch watches and a two tone Seiko, quartz movement of course. I miss the original old Swatch watches they were so cool back then, you knew it was time for a new Swatch when your band (usually white) became yellow or faded. Who would have ever known that Swatch would own a majority of the Swiss watch industry and would manufacture watch movements for over 75% of the business including Omega.

I can't remember what my first watch was. The first one I can remember buying was a Russian watch I bought at the Montreal World's Fair in 1967. Some years later, I bought a Seiko digital that had a solar assist power source. Then it was on to a collection of Casios, the last being this one:
Radio controlled, date, multiple time zones, 5 alarms, countdown timer, and memory. Then the plunge into Rolex, the first of which was this TT DJ: The rest, as they say, is history.

Most Casio's when I was a boy, Seiko's when I was a little older, and my first automatic was a O&W M65.
Now, with the exception of my Bathys, it's just Seiko's and Rolex/Tudors. Something about Seiko and Rolex just works. Love those rugged in-house movements.

I had to think about that for a moment.
I had a rather nice Tiffany tank-like thing that was altogether too delicate for my lifestyle. The crystal was absurdly fragile. |

I wore this Swatch Chrono for a couple of years before my Rolex came along. I still have this watch, but can't wear it because the black rubber links keep breaking.

For me it was a few "submariner" knock offs: Geneve (at Costco!), Seiko Diver...and some others like a couple Hamilton Khaki's and a Casio G-Shock, which I just lost on my last trip...(bummed!), but not too bummed with my 5513 on my wrist now!

Let me try to remember,
They were mainly Casio's, Seiko's, Citizen's maybe a Swatch somewhere. Till I got serious with watches. Zodiac diver's Zodiac GMT (just like the GMT II, knockoff with Pepsi dial, but quartz in 1993 I think?!) Zenith El Primero calibre 410 Oris Regulateur (tonneau shaped) Fortis Cosmonaut IWC 70's vintage NOS quartz Jaeger LeCoultre (Master Moon) Seiko Orange Monster Timex Heart Rate Monitor (fitness freak wannabe ;-) Casio Triple Sensor And the last piece, my baby, the TT GMT Master II, root beer dial. I really need to stop this collecting thing, I NEED THERAPY !!! heheehe!!! Last edited by santaclaus2100; 27 March 2007 at 02:56 PM.. Reason: to add my current Rollie pic |

As a kid is was anything my dad gave me. A collection of digital and analog stuff he brought home from work (he managed a pharmacy). One I remember even had an actual calender in it that came with cards you could change depending on what day the month started.
The only watch I ever really wore consistently before the rollie was a blue Fossil for about 7-8 years starting around 1995. |

This one, purchased from Sharper Image. At the time a new GMT was $1200 and a Date Sub $1325. And I thought THAT was a lot!

when i was 13 or so my dad gave me a casio and i wore it once. i put it away and vowed to never wear anything but a Rolex(Magnum PI influence). Everyone laughed and no one ever gave me a watch for a gift. I wore nothing. People simply knew that I didn't like watches, but only because I knew that i would someday own a Rolex, and I did.
