Need help 299 or 312

Hi guys,

I will purchase my first Panerai, just can't get the damn watch out of my head. A must have.

So for the moment i am stuck between choosing 299 or 312 price difference is about USD 800 (312 higher price). I love the look of the 312, but i am little hesitant to the quality of the movement....read that a couple of guys here had problems with their 312's.

The 299 has COSC certified movement what i have understood, and i have not read one thread about problems with the 299.

I'm leaning to the 299, will i go wrong?

Thanks for any help.

/Dennis

You don't see that much about the 299...I slightly prefer the look of the 299 myself. The date looks small on the 312 - IMO.

I prefer the 312 since it uses a Panerai movement. Nothing wrong w/the modified Valjoux in the 299, though. I also prefer the look of the 312, no cyclops.

312 worked best for me...sandwich dial and no cyclops together with 1950 case is simply beatiful...plus you get their own movement which added value for me...

had minor problem with it which has been easily resolved in local ad...I wear it almost every day and coudn't be more satisfied...

Another vote for 312...the dial is bit cleaner and the 1950 case is a beauty....by the time you get your watch...there should be NO issues as the 312 started with the K..and I think the Ms are rolling out...minimal issues..

you will read about the issues...the happy owners don't post...and if you look at how many are there now...its VERY small percentage...

I am biased though...

The 312 I'm looking at is a L-series
