No gun pics on TRF!!!
As you can see from my avatar, there apparently is a problem with your avatar showing a fictional book and movie character holding a prop gun. Seriously? I can understand not wanting to promote guns or violence, but a small pic showing Bond brandishing his sidearm is not allowed on TRF??? I think that's pretty weak.
Also, a PM requesting that I change the image would have been appreciated instead of modifying my avatar to the point where Bond's face is so magnified that you can hardly identify him (I thought this was the result of a computer glitch), and then modifying my avatar to include an obnoxious note. Poor form if you ask me. |

You are joking, right?
If you're serious, photoshop the gun to a bunny rabbit or something lame.

I do agree. Why would someone take the time to modify his avatar do instead of just shooting the OP a PM advising him of the TRF policy?

I know, right? I'm dumbfounded, both that the pic was considered problematic and the way in which this was handled.

I'm saying nothing until we hear from a mod - I'll be keeping an eye on thread, though

You want a gun pic. Go to a gun forum. This is a watch forum. Any questions?

It's a private forum, if the administrators and mods say no guns, you don't have to agree, you just have to follow the rules.
I do think photoshopping it to a bunny would be hysterical! -Pete

Well, "God," I would consider it a James Bond pic, not a gun pic. And yes, guns, as well as the Submariner, are inextricably linked to James Bond. If you really think the image is promoting guns or violence, I don't know what to tell ya.

No argument here. I didn't realize it was against the rules, which is no excuse, but it would have been nice to receive a simple message to that effect. I would have changed my avatar immediately.

I have seen these corrections in the past. It's a rule. I do not see a problem with it. Hope it is not a problem with you!

There are many of here that don't agree with the rule and think the forum is a poorer place for it, but we still abide by the rules. That's just the way it is.

Just to make you feel better, I made a mistake, and posted a picture that had a gun in the back ground.
The Mods corrected it, and we went on about our business. I wouldn't make a big stink about it, but find another cool avitar that suits your taste. |

I have to say, I actually took the time to read the rules and knew it, I've been a member for a few weeks? Though, perhaps I just have more time sitting around the office to do so. I think it would of been more fun if it had more comic appeal.. the edit rather. Nice way to to say 'RTFR' but.. I've been a business owner for a few years.. I read everything :P
I would not take too much offence , just my 2 cents. |

Yes, I suppose you're right. It isn't worth it. Will start my search for a new look this weekend.

Just get over it. That's the way it is here. Live with it or depart.
I like this forum and the members here, so I don't post gun photos. I belong to a number of gun forums and do my gun thing there. I must admit though that I find it interesting how much stuff is posted here about James Bond and his Omega or Rolex or whatever they paid a fee to get up on the screen for a particular installment. Let's keep in mind that he is a double O (as in 007) with a license to kill. What do the folks here think, that he beats them to death with a Sub.

Don't think I'll go with a sexy bond girl because it might offend someone's fragile sensibilities. How about a lego bond?

You could take a leaf out of Stevo's book and use a Bond movie poster as your avatar

You are absolutely right. OP, just calm down. Don't let that little thing stop you from enjoying the best community on the internet. Just change the avatar and start enjoying this place. The Mods are easy going, they just enforce the rules. They can take jokes that are in good taste and are people with families just like you and me. Never try to piss farther than one of them because you won't. No need to try what others have and no one has succeeded in doing. Welcome and enjoy and learn.
