Warranty Info

As you probably have seen I have been posting now to get as much info as I can before I get my first Panerai.

Question about the warranty. Will a watch bought only at an AD be covered under warranty?

I have seen a few jewelry shops, ebay, etc that have BNIB Panerais but wanted to make sure if I bought from one that is not an AD would I not be elegible for a warranty?

Unlike Rolex, it transfers if the warranty card is dated by an AD or Boutique.

So if you bought one that had not been dated etc, would you be able to take it to a boutique etc to get it dated and ready to go?

I don't think it will work that way. I've heard of people buying unmarked warranty cards and filling in the dates themselves. It is risky business doing that. The good/trusted sellers have the AD's fill this information in.

That said, I have heard of people buying a watch with a blank warranty card and filling it in themselves and getting away with it.

The odds of a 111 (if that is what you want) having a problem are relatively low IMHO. Even so, a 111 is EZ to service. I had my 111G serviced locally by a Rolex authorized repairer for $150. He completely disassembled the movement, cleaned it all, oil and reassembled and timed it over three days. Now my watch is flawless and within COSC timing. Not bad for $150. That is why I LOVE these ETA/Val movements.

Now, if I was buying a 270, 268, 233, 312.....Yeah, the warranty is worth it, (especially for the 233).

Perfect. Thank you. The only other one that has really caught my eye and I wouldn't mind bumping up to is the 312 which I think has one of the most to offer at it's price point.

Go to an AD if you can and try on the different case styles, don't worry so much about the dial at this point. You might find one you like one case more than the other. I for example like the 44mm Luminor over the 44mm 1950 Luminor. But most people prefer the 1950 case, I'm in the minority.

44mm Luminor (like 111,112)
44mm 1950 Luminor (like 312,320)
44mm 1950 Domed Luminor (like 233,270)
44mm Sub (like 24,25)
44mm 1950 Sub (like 243)
47mm 1950 Sub (like 305)
45mm Rad (like 210,183,268)

there are also these, but AD's most likely won't have them...
47mm domed 1950 Luminor (like 127,217,267,203)
47mm Rad (like 232 or the new 323)

Planning on going to an AD sometime this week to see difference of the 1950's case vs the regular Luminor case. I have fairly thick wrists so a big watch usually fits me nice. I have a TW Steel Big face that I love but a Panerai has been on my wish list for sometime and knock on wood I have moved up in the world where I can realize my dream lol
