Rolex Explorer 5500 Precision
I got this Rolex Explorer 5500
Serial 868XXX Dated from 1962 34mm diameter What do you think about it? Does the dial look original? I saw some of these go for 5000-6000 dollars...are they worth? I do not know much about it. It seems to be one of the first explorers. This reference (5500) appears to be an Air-king with an Explorer dial that Rolex made only for the UK in the sixties. I think the numbers and hands are in gold. The dial seems that lost some of its glossy appearance. |

the dial doesnt look very original. looks like an older resto and swapped hands. i wouldnt pop $5k on that. the dial is THE key part of that watch. if its a bogus dial, you are left with a very old and ordinary Air king. and now you would need to find a legit AK dial. harry
