How to size a 14060 for a woman?
Tried to size my 14060m for my wife a few days ago. We were going to a nice meal and I knew another wife at the dinner that is proud of her men's datejust, so I decided my wife could wear the 14060. She's pretty thin, and I couldn't get the bracelet small enough. Took out all the links I could and moved the diver's extension to the tightest setting. Still too loose. Am I missing something? Any tricks to make it smaller?

Have you considered to take out a permanent link from the 6 o'clock side?

Hmm. I'll bump this up for you. Nothing cooler than seeing a woman wearing a man's Rolex!

How can I take out a "permanent link?" Is it something I can do? Can I put it back on easily?

No you can't take out a permanent link yourself (at least not easily) nor can it easily be replaced.
Id either get an aftermarket bracelet for her to use if you two are going to share the watch Or get her one for herself.

You'll have to feed her a lot better. Five months on an all-carb 6000 kcal/day diet should do it.

there is a "how to" on here somewhere..basically 2pr of mole grips and pull it apart. it ruins the permanent link. please get more info before doing it. is it the 6oclock or 12 oclock side to remove?... centering the clasp etc... this is just the rough version. perhaps others will have more info.on the subject

When I gave my TT 16613 to my daughter, I had to removed all of the adjustable links, plus one permanent link. Doing so does destroy the permanent link, but it can be done with a Dremel tool and various pliers if you want to do it yourself. It was "painful" to do, but she wears it every day.

I have had the same problem with getting my Explorer II and, most recently, Tudor chronograph, to fit properly. Solution for the Explorer was a leather strap. Solution for the Tudor (it's on a Tudor jubilee) was to remove a permanent link from the 6 o'clock side. Would you trust this guy? Seriously, it's probably not for the faint hearted and you would have to know what you're doing. My husband studied how the links were put together, got out his tools and masking tape, and I hid my eyes and rediscovered a childhood prayer until he was finished. Perfect results. |

I don't want to imagine where that tool would be located now if he had failed miserably.

A pair of vise-grips, a little care and pull apart. The slight taper transition is hardly noticeable if only 1 perm link is removed. I would start with the 6 side. If 2 permanent links need to be removed, you will need to consider which side to remove depending on the centering of the clasp. If you are concerned about future adding of bracelet links, just buy an extra removable link. I have pictures somewhere in prior posts.

I had the exact same question about 2 or 3 weeks ago, even as far as I was trying to get my 14060 sized for my wife. I also explored on this site the options of removing a premanent link. Bottom line is you'll destroy the link. Dont try this on the Original Rolex bracelet. Buy an aftermarket replacement bracelet, should be around $100 (not Rolex, but more than accecptable ). I had one in house I wasnt using. I used 2 sets of vice grips, taped off the link(s) in question and just pulled...it worked. The hard part was getting all the peices back together with the link removed. But I'm no expert, far from it, and I managed it. Use the vice grips to secure the remaining links together and you are good to go. It worked and now, I cant get my No date Sub back from my wife. She loves it. Be careful what you wish for. I must admit, I love it on her. I even bought her a pink Nato...

Had Rolex BH (back then) take out a permanent link on the 6 o'clock side. Your AD could do it. Granted, that's if the watch is a keeper. But I doubt you would take that big a hit if you sell it with one permanent link out.
This shotwas a over a couple years old. Watch is tough as nails.

You can always buy another removable link on eBay for $50 bucks.
