Good for the Swedes, Good for Rolex Owners...

The reality is whether staying in the Euro and being at the mercy of its creditors or as an independent nation, Greece has to do the right thing. On that note, a great case study for the Greek people would be Sweden. The Scandinavian country is now seen as one that has gotten it right.

* GDP 4Q10: 7.3% Y/Y
* Annual growth as high as 6.4%
* Public debt to GDP: 40%
* Unemployment April 2011: 7.4%

The largest Nordic economy is enjoying record-breaking economic success following the policies of Fredrik Reinfeldt, whose center-right coalition has been in power since 2006. He talks about "reinforcing the work ethic" as a way of making pay work, which seems different than sending checks to people that don't work or don't pay federal taxes and somehow saying that's fair or smart. The private sector has taken off after lower taxes and smaller welfare benefits were introduced. The retirement age has been lifted to 67, and there are no inheritance or wealth taxes. The conservative Moderate party is set to become the biggest political party in Sweden in 2014, which would be the first time Social Democrats lost that position in 90-years. "
