I can't leave well enough alone....

Ahem... I think a lot of you know I decided to remodel my entire condo... (HOW can we forget the wonderful wall-paper removal saga.... we are CONSTANTLY reminded by Jocke!... ) Anyway, moving on. Everything is looking really good... new furniture... all the wallpaper down, new tile in the bathroom, you would think... that as much money, time, and pain I have put in to working on this place I could just sit back, relax and enjoy everything.... NOPE. My Kitchen had this ugly wooden light box on the ceiling with two flourescents... probably the rage in the 80s when my condo was built but just plain... ugly now. Soooooooooooo..... This weekend I thought I would remove it, and put in recessed (Can) lighting; how hard could it be right?

After spending six hours Sunday I A. Almost got electricuted twice B. fell off the ladder once, C. I think pulled a couple of my spinal disks out of place reaching up through the ceiling and D. Pretty much lost any sanity I had left.

WHEN WILL I EVER LEARN!?!?!?!?!

That is the reason why I do the work in your room Paul. Who wants an electrified, four fingers guy with pulled spinal taps as a handyman.?

Not me.

What is best a custom Rolex or a Rolex that is stuck in custom?

Buy a professional camera and you´re a professional
photographer, buy a flute and you own a flute.

I know what you're saying about many out there, scary stuff they get away with,

BUT there are some top shelf ones around that can do amazing things, and you don't even have to break a sweat or wash your hands. I have a great guy I use and he's worth every cent!!.

The thing with me is 'time,' and I dont really like to have things like this done to someones availability, so I would rather just do it on my own time...

PS, I enjoy the end result and its that more rewarding when its something "you did," rather than someone else...

Breakin a sweat and liftin a finger is good both physically and mentally...

My problem is just the opposite, I have no spare time, and what I do have is much more valuable to me than the cost of contract labor.

And besides, I could never make it look as good as your kitchen does. Bravo for having the skills and time to do such a finished looking job.

Yup, I hereya Eddie, I used to be in 'your camp,' and not having 'time' to do things is huge.

Its all about time and whats worth more when allocating it...

If I remember right, you have your own biz, and that demands way more time than a couple of clock punchers, which we are...

I and my wife work in healthcare, she full time, and myself a per diem clinician tech so I can pick and chose my hours.

This project took me about a month to do, start to finish, and the 'only' hold up was freakin flooring.

I waited almost two weeks to install it after she picked it out, then after I installed it, she decides she didnt like it.

No biggie...

So it was another two weeks to finilaze the floor after we found something else...

Its a galley kitchen that had about 9 sq ft of counter space when it was constructd back in the 50s, now its got nearly 5x the space...

Well, you did a nice job.

My business keeps me busy, and wife is a Physician, and she runs wide open most the time as well.

Thanks Eddie ~ !

Tip, if your wife is doing adults tell her to switch to neonates, they dont 'talk back' - my wife did adult care, from ER and all the units til she found happiness in the NICU...

What I do not get, he is not married, not engaged, and he is remodeling.

Single men do not normally remodel their man cave.

Did you need to use a fire extengisher during the remodel?
