Wow...that was a tough way to lose a game...dropping a pass that should have been caught, and then missing a FG that should have been an easy make. It's always tougher for me to swallow a loss like this...almost would rather have been blown out.

Congrats to the Pats on a great game.

Stupid kicker. But the Lee Evans drop was unforgivable. That was the win.

Flacco played well, which the media fools said he couldn't do. He threw the winning td, only to have the yutz drop it.

The Pollard thing was freaky.

Well that was ugly. Tip of the hat to New England. An edge of your seat, good, clean game.

That is what show boating will do. He should have caught as a fair catch and lived on, instead he gives the game to the Giants. Well, a great season for the 49ers anyway and until the end it was a great game. Congrats to the Giants and Pats!

I guess I'll have to find something else to watch Super Bowl weekend! :-(

I didn't think that there was a compelling reason for the receiver to call for a fair catch when there was no one rushing him or even within 10 yards of him.

If he had called for a fair catch, the coach might have strangled him.

It is sad, though. That poor boy will relive that fumble a billion times throughout his life and I doubt he'll sleep for at least a week.

Lee Evans and Bully Cundiff namely. Must have been an awful plane ride back for them. At least the kid in SF- Kyle Williams could drive home alone!!

That throw to Evans was a beauty. To bad it was wasted.

If flacco can do that to New England, Eli Manning will have a field day.

The lousy thing, other than my niners losing, is that for the next 2 weeks, every frigging thing including Brady and Manning's nose hair will be scrutinized looking to see who has the advantage. Oh, but there is the pro bowl to look forward to....

I have no idea. Someone at work emailed it to me.
Let's just hope it's a good game, no matter who wins.

All of you Giant fans are going to be pretty uspet when the Pats run for 150+ yards and your "big" front 4 are so confused because they only know how to rush the passer. We'll get them into a nickle package and then start running the no huddle with 4 or 5 running plays, draws, screens and then a the big play action pass.

I predict that BB will have the perfect game plan, run the ball, keep Eli off the field and win the game through clock managment. The Pat's are the most flexible team in football over the past 12 year winning in a variety of ways.

The game plan that has always been talked about when stopping TB will be the one that stops the Giants

Playoffs this year have been incredibly exciting, memorable close games and great plays. This 'rematch' is anti-climactic for me. The franchises and head coaches are the same, but the some of the personnel are different.
Most satisfying is that the Giants capped off a so-so year by taking it to the Cowboys, big time. The G-Men are peaking at the right time, but untimely miscues by the 9ers helped. I feel badly for the forty niners, because they played a valiant defensive game as a team, but the difference makers came down to a couple of plays, involving huge mental mistakes by one player, that gave the Giants great field position and the Giants capitalized on them. Now it has comes out that the Giants knew about the concussion history of that Kyle Williams- and were intentionally trying to get some big hits on him to ring his bell again. According to a couple of Giants special teams players, their unit targeted San Francisco 49ers punt returner Kyle Williams for big hits because he had a history of concussions, New York Magazine reported. The hope was to knock him out of the game.

That's exactly what I thought when watching Jorge Posada's press conference.

Spoken like a guy who is a Pats fan who knows his football. You're absolutely correct.

Win or lose in the Superbowl, the Pats sustained success over the last decade is pretty incredible. Five superbowls in 11 years??? It's because of the formula. They're a "game plan" team more than any other team in football--very flexible, cerebral, and chameleon like. A team designed to take advantage of match-ups more than any other in the NFL. You need smart and versatile players to play this way.
