TT Datejust price reasonableness

Hey all...

I still can't get the rolex monkey off my back..

So I'm looking to add a gent's 18k TT Datejust w/ diamond markers and jubliee bracelet to the collection.

One of the local jewellers had a pre-owned model (made in 1999) in stock.

Asking price was $6,380AUD that's roughly $6,696USD.

They said it had only one previous owner and the bracelet had be re-polished.

It looked in good shape...but I have a feeling it is way over-priced.

Can anyone advise if my feelings are valid?

And if so what would be a reasonable price to pay for that watch.

Thanks

It does sound overpriced. Though, if the diamond marker dial is genuine Rolex you have to take that into consideration.

I would say a nice older 2 tone with a real rolex dia dial is in the 2800-3500 range depending on box, papers and condition of the watch.

Unless the diamonds amount to a lot of extra money, the price seems a little high.

I just bought a P-series (2000) Ref. 16233 with Rolex diamond dial with boxes, books, and warranty paper for less than half of what your local dealer is asking. If I went to my local dealer, they would charge the same as yours, which is too much. These watches vary considerably in price and condition, so shop wisely. There are a lot of 2 tone Datejusts with aftermarket dials or added diamonds. I would not have considered a diamond dial watch if I hadn't found a factory dial watch complete with the Rolex warranty paper which lists the SN, Model, dial PN and dial description. It took a lot of time looking for the right watch at the right price, so good luck and happy hunting. I just wish it looked as good in the photo as it does in person:
