I like mechanical watches, not some cheesy battery powered piece of steal.

Why not just buy a Timex, with that question you would be much better served wearing one!

Rolex still makes mechanical movements for the same reasons some car companies make real 3 pedal manual transmissions...
Why go through all that hassle of using your left leg and right arm (just like winding) when you can get an auto?? If you're not an enthusiast you'll never understand! |

Whoa! Please slow down sir Scuderia has never used Honda motor/engines (I know this was just a figure of speech, however, pained my eyes to read ). In reality and as you are aware Rolex once produced albeit an unpopular battery operated timepiece which although as we can evidently see here on this thread (and in reality) was not popular, however, is still part of Rolex history If you would have used a Lexus to Honda motor comparison your comment would have been funny

If the OP means quartz then I would definitely go for a Casio G-Shock.

I don't think this question deserves such hatred. In fact, although I don't think Rolex should only sell quartz watches (mechanical timepieces have indeed a little something special and shall remain masterpieces in the world of watch making), I believe it wouldn't be such a bad idea to at least offer some models with an optional quartz movement.
Let's bare in mind that not all Rolex fans are watch enthusiasts and may not really care for a more expensive mechanical movement which shall require frequent services and will be less accurate. I don't see anything wrong with having a passion for ticking watches (some people already know that position and opinion of mine on the subject) and I think the love for the brand that is Rolex is due to more than just its movement. Now, if you please, I shall quote my friend Dr. Robert and say mechanical, quartz, why can't we just get along!

I agree. I would like a new Oysterquartz. There is nothing wrong with a high quality electronic watch. Besides, it would be much more accurate than anything Rolex makes today.
