AP Still my Favorite Brand!!!

Even with all the drama with the service of my 5402, nothing compares to the understated, yet very classy AP look.

Very nice indeed, but I would not categorize it as "understated"

In good health.

I find your first picture to be very ironic "Less" does not figure in any of the scenarios

Enjoy it while it lasts

That's a great attitude, Hal! Hope you don't let your service issues take away from your love of the beauty and craftsmanship in AP watches.

Glad to hear it Hal!

Tough to stay positive with ridiculous service quotes...
AP is in a league of it's own. Beautiful!

Thanks man, great attitude. You were a major influence on my buying my 15300, and I love it but have been bummed by your bad times with AP. I have a ton of great watches but am nearing the end of my watch collecting days, I want to buy one more great watch before I enter the bequest period of my life. I do not yet own a Patek so I was considering a Patek 5711 or another ROO. I have been hearing bad stories about both AP and Patek service and I am wealthy but not rich so money counts.

Given your experiences I have been leaning toward another Lange like the datograph, but I am driven more toward the AP and Patek models in terms of aesthetics.

I appreciate your sharing all of your positive and negative experiences they really mean a lot to me.

Cheers,
T

Glad I've been able to help by sharing my experiences. Keep in mind my situation is somewhat isolated and my 5402 is a vintage piece. I would go for a Patek to close the collection. Perhaps a Nautilus, an Aquanaut or a World Timer.

I'm sure you know but the Dato service is pricey.

If you think you will save money servicing a Dato--then you are seriously mistaken! You have the same issue as with AP and Patek--only a handful that are trained by their respective companies to work on them. With ALS--it is Alkis in NYC who many of us know. He is the best but will cost more to service than an AP. Nice watch Mike---I like that one! Here is my contribution.
