Anyone watch American Pickers?
I've been a fan since it started and love the fact it's like Antiques Roadshow but actually on the road...
But the one thing that kinda bothers me is that Mike Wolfe - the lead picker of the show - wears a modern Bell and Ross. Don't get me wrong! I think Bell and Ross has its place in the watch world but I expected a vintage piece from someone so into vintage stuff. I want to reach through my screen and strap-on a 1675 so bad! Anyone else a fan of the show? |

I like the girl.... tat's and all....there is something about her
I record it ...and watch it but they should focus more on her and less on the guy with the beard |

I watch it occasionally. Rather scripted though I think...

I really like this show.
However the guys are a little cooky. I mean they travel across the U.S.A. looking for what is a little better than pieces of rusted stuff, old and broken toys, gas station signs, pumps and other what might be termed 'expensive junk'. It has a novelty value for me, and that's why I like the show. However, right after is the Las Vegas Pawn Shop show with Chumlee. Those guys buys some really cool stuff and they just sit in their shop and wait for the guys to come to them. This is to be contrasted to the other Pawn Broker show/shop in Chicago where they get mostly rubbish and seem to have family feuds all the time, that does my head in. Then there is OCC American Choppers which has turned into a soap-drama between the father and his sons. Forget about showing how these awesome motorcycles are made, all they seem to focus upon is how the fathers feelings are hurt and how the sons no longer talk to him etc. etc. etc. Man my brain hurts........where is the 'off' button on the remote.

I enjoy the Original Pawn Stars as well and agree that American Pickers is probably scripted. If it wasn't I'm sure we'd see a lot more of them getting run off property with shotguns. Both are very entertaining imho which is what it's all about.
I'm over OCC... I used to watch years back but ongoing family feud is ridiculous and I refuse to watch anymore. That ship has sailed. |

Agree 100% Pawn Stars in Las Vegas is an excellent show and you tend to learn something new from each episode with all the interesting items people bring in. The other show you are reffering to is Hardcore Pawn Its based in Detroit and is all about the owners kids feuding over control of the store and the loons that walk through the door trying to pawn their fake jewelry.

All of these shows are scripted-some more entertaining than others---I wish the Golds would lose their shop---that show tries the nerves.

Pawn Stars is indeed great. Of course it's scripted, but in an interesting way.
OCC... Horrible.

I enjoy the show as well. I can't understand how they make money on some of the junk they buy. I guess there is a buyer for everything though...

x2, they show some truly great stuff but i fail to see how it's all found by simply driving down a highway & cold calling doors with a camera crew in tow....much prefer Swamp People

I love that show. +1 to the suicide girl, and +1 to the scripting, but I don't care so much. At least their lines aren't scripted like in Pawn Stars. I think most of the stuff they "find" is people calling in wanting to be on the show. You can tell the introduction scenes are faked. The rest of the "pick" is pretty genuine, though.
Last night, they had a Von Dutch bike that was thought to be lost on the show. Mike actually bought it. Pretty sweet. |

Pawn Stars is my favorite because of the interesting items you get to see.

I watch the show but I don't really know why because what those guys buy to me, looks like just a bunch of rusty old junk.
I'm not usually a fan of tattoos on women either but there is something about Danielle; she has beautiful eyes and I like her attitude with the guys. |

I tend to watch the shows about storage auctions (there are a few)...
I used to do those myself for a couple of years for the entertainment value. I ended up with a lot of stuff to get rid of...

I do watch these shows but my latest obsession is Chasing Classic Cars, did anyone see last weeks? Wayne went through a collection of a man who had passed away after collecting for more than 70 years. This guy restored nothing, everything he had was original and he had license plates and bikes from all over the world. Wayne bought a Thor motor cycle, can't wait till he gets it back in working order!!
