Some 5711 Enabling Please...

Did I just say that out loud ?

All of these Nautilus posts are getting me

Thinking maybe (that was a big MAYBE Dan) that 5711 would be a nice addition.

Can't go wrong with the classic that is Nautilus.

If not now, certainly high on the future list.

I don't know I am even asking this one, but I assume the classic PP blue dial will be the preferred choice over white

Paul, please! Do you think we have the time to enable someone to a Patek Nautilus?

...Oops!

...Oh dear, I'm sorry!

...Now this is embarrassing!

...What's going on in here?

...What the hell is happening!?

Now of course, these aren't my pictures, I'll let people show their very own soon, this was just the beginning...

Paul, if you like thicker/bigger watches maybe the 5980/1A is a better choice. Or the upcoming 5726/1A (I want this one). Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my 5711/1A but it wears small/thin. It takes some getting used to.

As for blue vs white. I think the new white dial imparts a modern sportiness to the line while blue is classier. Given the thinness of the 5711, I prefer the classy blue. Now if they had used WG marker surrounds instead of black... different story. On the sportier/thicker 5980, I prefer white - the different color subdial on the blue is distracting (although it works better on the 5980R).

I think the white dial has its charm but I'll agree with you, the blue is unique and you can't beat its beauty.

Thanks guys...I knew it wouldn't take long.

I need to take a closer look at these Mike. Do you have 5726 MSRP?

Will report back, as I do like a little more 'beef'.

X2

I think if it is right for you, you will know. But I would advise taking a look at the various options in person first if possible. There is a difference in case size which can't always be appreciated until seen.

In the last couple of months I think I have been able to see most of the SS versions with the exception of the 5711 at the ADs I have visited.

Does the 5711 wear about like the 5167?

Keep in mind the same movement is being used, so the case is probably about the same thickness, but I think the 5711 is a bit wider because of the ears. Of course the 5711 is on a bracelet and your 5167 is on a rubber strap.

So yes, I would say given some minor differences it's pretty close.

Hmmm, well don't know then.

Maybe too small.

Paul I would classify the 5711 as very classy sports watch. not unlike the 5617.

The 5980 is quite a bit bigger in that the case is quite a bit thicker because of the movement. Has a much bigger wrist presence. But it's also about twice the cost of a 5711. The only other that I remember for sure is the 5712 which isn't that much more than the 5711, but then again the case size is about the same size of the 5711.

The 5711 is indeed a very thin watch. It is especially very thin if you consider it a sports (or sporty) watch. The whole thing (very thin watch case + thin & light bracelet) looks very weird on the wrist after wearing diving watches like the Submariner or Omega Planet Ocean. So make sure to try the 5711 on before making a decision. It could be difficult though, since most Patek ADs have no 5711 on stock due to "artifically" limited production. It's not a limited edition, but the market would require much more annually than what Patek makes. It may be much easier to find an Aquanaut to try on.

Fortunately as others suggested, there's always a way if you think the 5711 is too thin. 5726 and 5980 are both great choices, although quite a bit more expensive than the 5711.

Thanks Dan. Notice some more wrist shots on the white dial 5711 on TZ...that white is pretty sharp. It would be a tough call color wise I think if I pulled trigger on 5711.

I've noticed the same thing, it appears to have caught the eye of many, but then again the white dial was just introduced at Basel this year. So I think it looks good, but I also think it has a bit of the latest greatest appeal as well.

Either way, I think the white dial more than likely will be a bit difficult to get a hold of for awhile, that is once it come out.

I really do think it best to try either out first in person if your having doubts about the size of the watch.

Sounds like I'm the only one around who votes for the white (though haven't seen it in person). I've had blue watches, including the Royal Oak, & always felt they were too matchy matchy with jeans. Probably ridiculous, but for $26K I don't want to deal with any buyer's remorse.
