if they are equivalent models eg, 16233 datejust or 15233 oyster DATE, the size is the only diffference the case is only 34mm and the band is 19mm and not 20mm at the ends and slightly thinner, the movements are the same, in the case above 3135 in both.

The year doesn't matter either... Year for year they use the same movement..

So essentially 34mm (Date) to 36mm (Datejust).

Thats correct the main selling factor, far more dial and bracelet options with the DJ,but movement wise exactly the same.

I've always thought that the Datejust had quickset date with instant change at midnight while the Date model didn't. Don't know where I got that from! Lol

Ya, there is a quick-set date, I think ref. 15000 (Something like this). My Girlfriend has a vintage 1500 she loves!

I really love the classic ones with original alpha hands and rivet. It's a very refined and understated piece

Thank you very much! I was told that there is a quickset function for the Datejust in the "facelift" version, so I think it maybe a bit different from the Date in movement.

No, year for year they had the same movement and functions. Both went quick-set sometime in the early-mid '80s, I think.
