Watch suggestion for under $500?

Long time listener, first time caller to the program. I don't have a large budget so I am probably on the wrong forum But looking to get the wife a watch and not spend a ton of money. Any brands I should be looking at that are good for around that price?

TYIA,
Love this forum.

My preference would be Seiko/Orient...

A pre-loved TAG Heuer or a Bulova Prescisionist! The Bulova is great! Very very accurate, also you can stare at the very smooth seconds hand all day long!

Budget conscious? Try Seiko or Orient.

In the price range, you can get away with something that's a little more of a fashion watch like a Michelle. If she's like most women she loves the white ceramic look, which Michelle makes but without the Chanel price.

Seiko, Tissot, or Hamilton are all good choices at that price point.

What about a lovely vintage Omega. Can get loads of really lovely retro looking models that look really cool today like the dynamic from the late sixties early seventies. IMHO a lot better than a tag, tissot, seiko etc

Another vote for a used Tag. A Tag was my first "serious" watch and sparked my interest in watches. In fact that watch has got a lot to answer for ....

My first mechanical watch was a Hamilton Khaki mechanical.
I got it NOS for $330 2 years ago.

-Has 2804 Hand wound ETA movement, 28800 BPH, great movement for the price, keeps super accurate time
- Comes on a beautiful dark brown leather strap with contrast stitching,
-Saphire Crystal
-Last of the cheaper hamiltons to be "Swiss Made"
-understated brushed Stainless case that looks like titanium, and hides scratches well.

It is a throwback to the Hamilton military watch issued to American GIs during WWII. A great watch for a great price from a company with a history.

You have to look around for it. Most newer entry level hamiltons are not swiss made, but made in china. IMO the Swiss Khaki mechanical is the best Hamilton khaki ever. Not American, but swiss made with rock solid movement! I have nicer watches, but this one still gets a lot of wrist time. I will NEVER sell this watch.

I also looked at Orient sub-style divers for the same price point, but after a while I decided I'd rather have an original piece from the company that made it rather than a look alike. Not to knock them, I have heard great things about orient.

For a woman Movado or Citizen makes great watches in that price range. Check out this one. My fiancé has one right now before she gets her DJ in 2 weeks.

This Movado is very simple and beautiful as well.
