Here is another article which eludes to GG with the Aquanaut BUT it is clear that there are stories/rumors to both sides of the tale with no one knowing the true answer

Just an idea...

Should we start referring the Aqua as the Beatle after the Beatles or the Paula McCartney or the Ringo Starr? Let's have some fun with this one...

Actually I think somebody had already referred to it as the Paul McCartney.

Having read an article I'm led to believe that Paul MCartney wears a 5165, and Ringo wears a 5065.

Unfortunately, they didn't go for the 5167 ...but I did

I just wonder whether the 'Paul McCartney' Aquanaut can do what Paul Newman did to the Daytona and Steve McQueen to the Explorer 2 turning it into some sort of cult following in 30 years. It will then be a very good watch/$$$ for the NEXT GENERATION!

I think this argument might help to persuade your other half to give you the nod to purchase the watch for your future generations!

I purchased a Nautilus, now I want the Aquanaut! Amazing what a respected celebrity can do for a product. I will admit, I have always liked the versatility of this Patek model!

I personally think the 5167 is a bit better at 40mm, unfortunately they must have gotten theirs before the 5167 existed.

I actually purchased my 5167 after I got my 5711. I'm very pleased to have both.

The 5165 and 5167 were released at the same time. Ringo's watch is obviously the older 5065, so neither were available yet.

I'm on the opposite side. Purchased my Aqua about 2 years ago and have been thinking more and more about the Naut.

I think I may have posted this PIC before.

But just in case I haven't.

Ah, the perfect pair.

Also a pic of Brad Pitt wearing his Nautilus...
Actually the aquanaut is nice but Paul McCartney's hedi slimane tie (door homme circa mid 2000s) is what makes the picture for me - love it! I think I might just get the electric guitar out...

I am now even more convinced the Aquanaut (5164?) is on my short list! I love complications!

Congrats on the pair, both pieces are outstanding I'm just curious which watch you naturally gravitate towards in an everyday situation?

Thank you.

Generally I tend to wear the 5167 more often for just casual wear.

But when the occasion calls for a more special piece I tend to gravitate more towards the 5711.

Just like everything else however, your mileage may vary.

One thing I have yet to see with regards to Patek is any mention of ambassadors.

No expert here, but I don't get the Patek believes in paying celebrities to represent their timepieces.

But then again a number of celebrities chose to wear their timepieces.

Patek is its own embassador. Heck, maybe patek pays some people NOT to wear its watch. ;p

Typo, I meant to say, I don't believe Patek pays people to be ambassadors. I don't think they decided this is something they need to do.
