An intro, and a question from a Rolex newbie
Hello, guys and gals. I just now purchased my first ever Rolex. My taste tends toward simple classic lines, and my budget is very tight, so I started out small. My main pieces are Omegas, but I want to get a few Rolex/ Tudors in the collection. I know so much about Omega, and not much, at all, about Rrolex. I came across an auction that was about to end and, on a whim, put in a last minute bid. According to the seller, this was just serviced, and it looks all original to my untrained eye. I was attracted by the color of the dial, which appears to be somewhere between grey and blue. It is a 6694 from the 70s, and I'd like to find the right oem bracelet for it. As I said, I'm rather clueless. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you. Here's a pic of my incoming:

Hi Kat,
Welcome to the forum. Congrats! Your Oysterdate 6694 watch is a good start to the world of Rolex, a modest size for a man, but just about right for the new ladies trend. Its also a real workhorse. That watch came with a 19mm (lug width) mens, all stainless steel, oyster bracelet, model 78350 with matching clasp and (2ea.) #557 end pieces. Those bracelets are fairly common - perhaps there might be one in the FS section of TRF (reputable sellers with references). Otherwise, ebay has quite a few, but you MUST BE CAREFUL - lots of counterfeits and aftermarket junk there and on many other sales sites. Be prepared to pay a few hundred $ for the real deal. In the meantime, that croc strap looks pretty good on it! Good Luck! |

my thoughts
You got a great watch with a pretty unique dial. Congratulations. Because this watch is vintage, I would expect the bracelet version that came with it to be well worn when you find one for sale. Rather than trying to find the correct-for-the-6694 bracelet, I would start looking for a more modern 19mm jubilee or oyster that will fit.

Hi, everyone. I just wanted to let you know that I found the correct bracelet for my 6694. It looks to be in very nice condition, considering it's from 1976. Other pics show all correct markings, including 557 end links. I should have it within a few weeks, since its coming from the UK. Do I need special spring bars? Thanks. Here's a pic:
P.S. My 6694 should arrive today. Wrist shot later..... Regards, KAT |

Are you saying any 1.5mm or 1.8mm shoulderless 19mm spring bars should work? I'm brand new to Rolex, but have plenty of 19mm spring bars on hand, since I do all my own strap and bracelet changes on all of my pieces. I don't think there are spring bars included with the bracelet. Thanks.
