FS: Vintage Seiko 1986 7C46-6009 Ashtray Tuna Gold and black dial, rare original stra
Untouched history here folks. I always wanted this Ashtray Seiko and finally found one but it unfortunately wears just like the other tunas for some reason on my wrist. I must have a weird enough shaped wrist that the tunas SBBN007/SBBN011/SBDX011 all fit a little off and just aren't that comfortable. Here's the catch with this one... it's actually the most comfortable of all due to this vintage extremely pliable original Seiko strap!!!! It's like strapping on history with the strap as it's certainly well worn but pliable as it was 20 years ago and ready for years more use! This strap puts to shame any other stock Seiko strap I've ever had including the venerable MM300 and that's saying something. It just doesn't fit like I had hoped it would and as always I'm chasing other desires now. I was after the gold dial version as I think it really pops with the goldy/yellow second hand and matching hour/minute markers. Crown is perfect, case is nearly perfect save for very light swirls expectant on a 25 year old watch. The crystal is scratched but completely does not detract from reading the time and fits perfectly with wabi condition of the watch giving it real character without looking "old." I am will likely regret this as they only come for sale a couple times a year max and this one with it's stock 25 year old strap in this pristine condition can't be very common. Bezel turns as it should nice little clicks which feels like 120 to me but I'm not 100% on that. Everything is solid including it's timekeeping. Due for a battery in 1991 I'm not sure what the service history is but I had simply planned on pressure test and wear the snot out of it until the second hand stops spinning and then do something with it for service/battery replacement. I would definitely not change any part on this watch including the crystal and most especially not that strap!
Tentatively for sale at USD $1000.00 paypal and shipped full insurance. No warranty expressed or implied and international will have to contact me to discuss shipping and details as it gets hairy going that far. |
