I assume you mean this one...
5513 Gilt Dial on EBAY I wish there were a close up of the dial, I'm not a vitage expert but something looks weird to me. and no bracelet is a very big deal, the watch head is where the value is but I'm not paying top dollar without an original bracelet.

I haven't the foggiest, like I said I'm not a vintage expert but the key is the dial which there is no close up of. I wouldn't be buying unless I could inspect in person with a neutral party that knows these models.
If you are trying to get a value for your piece have a local expert inspect it and give you an appraisal.

honestly IMHO the dial is not in good condition - i wouldnt pay for this watch even with paperwork - who cares of the papers if the watch is in so so condition - furthermore look at the polishing job - not good -
if the dial was not so corroded and it had papers i would pay a nice price but not for this watch think of it this way - if it was sooooo mint, the watch would have been long gone and probably wouldnt have reached ebay anyways especially from a dealer - see the description - i mean really if it were such a catch there would be much more to tell - other than rustic leather band lol just my opinion but i think its not worth pursuing cheers S |

Bidding ended at £8,100 or roughly $12,500 US Dollars.
It looked like a nice watch to me but seemed quite expensive. I'm trying to get into vintage but it's early days yet so I can't really tell if something is badly polished and things like that. |

You are smart to do your homework now before you jump in.

Sold way over price ! I would not pay over $6,000. Wait patiently and you will come across someone needing cash and wanting to unload a good 5513.

Replaced hands, replaced insert, later bracelet. Nice Sub and great to have the papers, but not at that price. You can do better.

I would like to buy from a reputable dealer if possible. There are a few in the UK but the American based dealers such as Eric Ku have a much better choice but I'm quite worried about the import duty. I like high end guitars but if I bought one from the States I would have to pay VAT at 20% which would make it more expensive than it would have done to buy it the UK in the first place. I assume the same would apply to a watch.

It doesn't really help this buyer (or anyone) increase their knowledge to compare these watches. I could have spent half as much as I did to get a 5513 but wanted something a little rarer e.g. gilt, metres first, underline, single SWISS, PCG model. Without any of these features the price varies. Yes, you're 100% right. With my first US purchase I got quite a shock on delivery
I didn't know about the VAT and 20% made the watch much less of a bargain US watches are a real bargain... if you live in the US! Quote:
