Gmt 16750
I have just found this on the internet.
http://www.ukspecialistwatches.co.uk...vintage-16750/ This seller also has a lovely 1675 GMT but it seems overpriced, even above London prices, I have posted about it before and everyone seemed to conclude that it was a lovely piece but too expensive. I tried to barter with the seller but I still couldn't get anywhere near. This one looks quite good and at a more sensible price, it is also advertised on ebay for £5,995 which is odd because I would think you'd advertise at a higher price on ebay to cover your costs but there you go...... What do you think of it? |

Looks very nice. Might be rare in UK but here in Hong Kong you could probably pick that up for closer to about 4,750 quid. Try for 5k, but if they believe their own very enthusiastic write-up they'll likely be reluctant to go there.

Great watch, great full set - agreed. Over-priced, in my opinion. Maybe £5.5K

Certainly a clean looking watch and in nice order - strikes me as bit high in price though, maybe by about £1k?

Am I right in thinking that these have a plexi crystal?

Yep. No sapphire GMT Master until the 16700. The final GMT Master. The GMT Master 2 had a sapphire from the beginning starting with the reference 16760

$9700 (US) is a great price if it sells, for a great looking watch and a nice set, but I don't believe he is even in the ballpark. Actually, he's a few miles from the stadium at best.
I wonder what the serial number is?

True, if I brought one in from another country the initial buy price would undoubtedly be less but I would have to pay duty and VAT @20%. A watch that is priced at the equivalent of £4,500-£4,800 could easily end up at £6000 or more by the time it has been delivered to me.

$6-6.5k is more reasonable. you can buy nice example w/o b&p for $4.5-5k all day.

Seller has offered it to me for £5,000, I am just deciding what to do. These things never turn up when you're in the market, only when you stumble across them by accident and when your head tells you that you should be saving money rather than spending it. On the other hand, I think the price is about as good as I will get on a set like this, in this condition in the UK and I also think that this particular model is a good starting point for a new/wannabe vintage collector like myself. Decisions, decisions.......

As far as the price goes, it only matters whether you are happy with the price. Nice complete sets of the elusive 16750 GMTs do not show up very ofter - especially with a very nice watch to go along with the set. The price is much more reasonable now than the asking price.

I recommended you try for 5K in my first post at the top here a few days ago. Now it's offered, I'd say take it.
