Breitling or Baume and Mercier ?

I have been looking for a nice, sturdy, dive watch, but not wanting to have to pay over 6 grand.

I have been looking at two brands of watches......

The baume and mercier below...

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...SIN=B003QBFIPW

Or some of these breitlings......

http://www.amazon.com/Breitling-A173...pd_sbs_watch_5

What do you think, and words of wisdom?, thank much

No question of the two watches you showed, I would pick the Breitling superocean 44. I used to have this watch and it's a superb piece for the money. It can go to a depth of 2000m and has very high quality fit and finish, especially the brushed steel case and bracelet. Breitling is definitely a cut above B & M, imho.

Here's an old pic...

Those two would personally not be my first choice. But if I had to choose it would be the Breitling. In that price range you could also have a look at the Tudor Pelagos (for me one of the prettiest divers out there at the moment) or Nomos Ahoi (in-house movement and very goodlooking as well).

Sixpax..that is a sharp looking watch. Do you find the 44 too big for a classy watch, or does it wear just right? It looks great, I think you have helped me make up my mind.

Thanks

If your budget is under six grand, I'd consider a gentley used Sub or a new PO instead of the BM or Breitling. Just my two cents worth.

Breitling without a doubt, very sturdy watches and built like tanks.. Any of their divers are a no brainer especially considering the price, also most of them are certified chronmeters not something many brands can say in the same price range.

Hi, the 44 size fills up my small wrist so I imagine it should be fine on yours. I don't think it's too big and for sure it wears just right and not too imposing. It's great for everyday wear and I hope you will enjoy it like I did.

The thing about the Breitling is that you can switch to their outstanding rubber straps on deployant, such as the diver pro II/III or the ocean racer. Very versatile.

Are you only into these 2 brands?? Even I have a Rolex sub 116613LB, I still love my ORIS:

Look very sturdy, well-built and looks very nice.....(besides only cost half of your budget...and you can use the other to take a good vacation )

$6,000 is a lot of money for a diver, and neither of these watches would tempt me away from a nice, used Sub. I'd probably consider an Omega or the older Breitling divers, too, and save some money.

Between those two, the Breitling.

As already posted for that budget, alot of watches by Rolex and Omega as well.

Between the two, I would go with the Breitling Superocean. I think that B&M makes a fantastic dressier watch, but prefer the Breitling sport watches.
