So I got sick of being on the BLNR wait list and...

So I turned 30 a couple weeks ago and the plan was to buy myself the new GMT BLNR. I put myself on the wait list with my AD (also a family friend) in early December and was told it would arrive in March. When I checked in with the AD in late January I was told it was now looking more like 6-12 months. I know these things are in demand but I decided that was crazy so I removed myself from the list to go vintage. That may be one of the better ideas I've ever had... I originally was looking for a Sub in my birth year but that started to seem like an impossible task. While shopping in the city my girlfriend saw a Pepsi and thought it was really cool (I was shocked). I started looking at 16750's and found a beautiful '79 on this forum which is now on my wrist :)

Wrist shot below along with a pic of my current "collection"... certainly an odd pairing so far.

I think I will end up getting the BLNR in a year or so if I'm still into it and when there is inventory and I can get a decent discount.

It's a great duo mate! Good choice on your "new" GMT!

You did the right thing - welcome to vintage! Lovely 16750, congrats. I reckon you won't ever buy new again. Forget the BLNR!

Congrats; beautiful GMT!

I feel sorry that 116622---it'll find itself doing sock drawer guard duty more and more often, until one day it finds itself in the For Sale section here on the forum.

Great combo! Love the red tone of the 16750 bezel insert.

you made the right choice. They aren't going to make anymore 16750.

Very nice indeed. Perhaps this is a stupid newbie question; why the long waiting list when BNIB or LNIB BLNR's are for sale on TRF every day? What aspect am I missing?

Thanks everyone for all the positive response. I've definitely enjoyed wearing the 16750. I think its damn cool that I'm wearing a watch older than I am.

Anyways in response to the question quoted here there are definitely nice BLNR's available on this website but I have a personal relationship with my AD so I prefer to do business with him when possible and get a good discount.
