Big problem?

I just wanted to set the date on my 1680. Therefore, I unscrewed the crown and pulled it out. Unfortunately, the whole crown with stem came out. I pushed it in again without any resistance and was able to set the time and date. The watch was serviced by the SF RSC about 2.5 years ago.
Is that a major problem requiring RSC or should I leave it as it works?

Thanks,

Boris

Here is some recent discussion on the topic. If you have a chance take it to a local dealer with a watchmaker or reputable local watchmaker to help you out.

Probably broken small screw that holds in crown.

Thanks for all the replies. Does not seem to be a major problem, I guess. Let me see if the watchmakers at a Wempe can fix it.

Great Experience at Wempe Hamburg

Following everybody's advice, I went to Wempe and it was indeed a screw that had come loose. They immediately fixed and pressure tested it; all for no charge and extremely friendly. Where ever I went to in Houston, I was charged for everything (bracelet adjustment, pressure testing etc.).

Thanks for everybody's input.

Glad it worked out for you..

This was a common problem for older movements. The newer movements have a spring-loaded button to release the stem and it seldom fails..
