I can't remember....was there a definitive yes or no to the fact if these dials are still available from rolex if you asked them to do a switch out on your red dial?

I don't think they're around anymore but I also don't think anyone's brave enough to exchange a Red dial to find out.

Question - if you do have a Red Dial Sub. . .how do you go about getting a service dial from Rolex? Could you get one which would allow you to have a lumed dial for everyday use, while preserving your original dial and hands either for outright safekeeping, or for a swap back in the next time you wanted to enjoy them - say, at the next service interval?
Also, is the Red Dial Sub the only "special" service dial Rolex has? For example, do they have gilt or chapter ring service dials if you have a gilt or chapter ring or Bart Simpson 5513? For that matter, if you have a 5512 rather than a 5513, does Rolex have a 4-line service dial for the 5512? And if you have a late 80s 5513, would you get a WG-surround gloss service dial, rather than a matte no-WG dial? Not that I'd EVER plan on putting a service dial in place of my original one; I'm just curious about how the service dial inventory addresses some of the more "special" cases of original dials. |

Nathaniel, the case looks great now - once you have the ABC boys do their case magic - along with that dial, and insert - this will be a rare stunner
Also nice that 2 great guys could get together on this transaction. Russ |
