Bob's Watches
Does anyone know this Rolex dealer and can vouch for them? http://www.bobswatches.com/
I found their web site and open it up. Have some excellent prices. They offer a free instant quote for your watch. I gave them the information and the next day received a phone call from one of the sales people and was told the price. I was also told I could ship them the watch via FedEx (they provide label via email at no cost to me). I would just have to provide the box, pack it up and drop it off at FedEx and the watch would be insured for the amount quoted ($7900). After they inspect it, they ship the watch back to me the same day. I think it was a low appraisal but fair. But then again, they haven't seen it in person (only a picture I sent to them). The salesperson was very nice and very helpful. It sounded good and I was going to ship it. After all, after viewing Bob's web site, I see Bob's Watches and its location of Huntington Beach CA as probably a very fine upscale jewelry store in a very nice community. I have Been to Huntington Beach quite a few times in the past. But after a few minutes, the wheels started turning and I got nervous and starting thinking about the outstanding possibilities of internet fraud.. Maybe this was a computer scam and I was sending out an expensive watch to someone I never met, to a local I have never been to and Bob's had nothing to do with this and was being a victim of a con by a hacker using Bob's wed site as a host. So I goggle earth the address on Bob's web site (15176 Goldenwest Street Huntington Beach, CA 92683) and the address on the shipping label (15182 Goldenwest Street Westminster, CA 92683 and it shows a strip mall with a pawn shop named "Cash for Gold" as the location!!!!!!! I called back the number of the person that called me with the appraisal, the pawn store and Bob's and got the same person at each of the 3 different numbers. Because of my suspicious mind, I decided to get my watch appraised by a local Authorized Rolex dealer and will not made a near Rolex purchase from them. Maybe I'm wrong, and would love to be proved so if someone can verify them as a legit company. |

I purchased my wife's Rolex from Bobs watches.
The watch arrived the next day, in the condition that it was described. My transaction with them went smooth. |

I did receive a message from the store last night wanting to know if I was still interested in shipping the watch. I will call back and feel them out a bit.

I visited the store in February to verify that they were legit.
I bought a GMT Pepsi the next month; every thing was on the up and up. No problems with my transaction. Be safe. |

That's an interesting story. I've never bought or sold to them (almost sold but they were a bit low), but I've heard lots of good things from people.
I wonder why the shipping address is a pawn shop, and why the different phone numbers are route to the same place? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

If you are in fact shipping it to Bob he is legitimate and located in Huntington Beach just up the way. Buy prices are low as previously stated and his mark up his high IMHO but business is business.
You may want to try fellow trusted members on here. Several buyers here that are well known and well trusted. I don't even have to leave the house anymore thanks to this forum! I see a watch I want, I make a call and it's delivered within hours! |

100% legitimate. I bought an unworn with stickers and tags..papers...box ...116618 yellow gold from Bob. Had it opened to verify authenticity and appraised at AD. Saved $8k from what I would have paid at local AD.
I love it. Would do business agsin. Ask to speak to Paul Alteri the owner if u have questions. |

When I went to their brick and mortar location back in February, I got a chance to see their business model first hand.
They have a significant cash investment in their inventory which is updated daily on their website (where an ad shows up on a lot of pages I visit). They have an on site jeweler that examines every piece before they purchase it. If it doesn't need any work, it is detailed and put into inventory. If it needs very minor work, it is done in-house. Everything else gets shipped off to the RSC in LA. They have very few pieces that are good examples of vintage. However, if you are looking for a thoroughly gone through watch that looks great at a competitive price, I think they deserve a visit (especially if you can't find what you want here on TRF). For the more common models, they have multiple pieces for sale. Prices vary based on age and rarity. If you wire transfer the funds, you get a small discount. They ship overnight FEDEX and you have 3 days to verify your purchase. A lot safer than eBay in my opinion. Be safe. Last edited by JohnBaker3; 4 April 2014 at 11:24 PM.. Reason: typo |
