Real Rolex?

My husbands 1962 Rolex got stolen. His father gave it to him as a graduation present. He had it in his car in the glove box (bringing it home from the Rolex guy) and then it disappeared. We looked everywhere for it.

I found this watch and I am wondering if it looks like the real thing. Our 10 year anniversary is coming up and this is very close to the one that was stolen/lost. I know nothing about watches so I would love your help.

Why wouldn't it be real ? the watch and bracelet are stamped, no inconsistencies with the dial, endlinks are right, serial number is there. the only thing left is, does it feel right ? is it lighter than it should be ?

The main thing is the last service date. Is there a warranty. Tack on $1000 and the wait for a service. Nice watch.

Thank you everyone. I just bought it.

To have it serviced, do I go to a local Rolex dealer and then they send it to one of the 3 service places in the US. Is that the best way to get it serviced? I know it will cost at least $500. I hope my hubby appreciates this gift. Oh, how long does it take to get the watch back?

At first blush it looks real, and I'm glad the seller allowed you to take photos of the inside.

You could buy it on approval (meaning you can return it within 24 or 48 hrs) and take it to another jeweler, ideally an authorized rolex dealer, and ask them to authenticate it (they would likely charge a fee, which will be money well spent).

It is a pretty watch. let us know what the seller is asking for it, and what kind of dealer is it (pawn shop, authorized rolex dealer, etc.).

You did a good thing coming here. Very smart.

I got it on Ebay. The guy selling it opened it up and showed pictures. My plan is to take it to AD when I get it and then have it serviced.

Thank you for all your help. It looked legit on the pictures and the guy has been selling on Ebay for 14 years but I am still weary. I bought it through PayPal and I know first hand that it should be pretty easy to get a refund (the guy gives 2 weeks for returns as well). I hope I didn't overpay. It was $2250. Not a bargain but I hope I didn't get ripped off.
