Low main spring power is one reason.
Other reasons could be age, or dirt/dust in the movement, a knocked about balance... but first step, always wind up your Rolex a full 45 to 50 turns of the crown and check time again over a day or two. |

I have already wound the watch
Should I let it wind down and rewind it?

How slow is it running?
And over what period? A day? Two days? And what watch is it? |

First it would help if you could tell us how slow your watch is over 24 hours a week etc. Many different things could contribute to a watch running slow so without more information cannot really help you.Try different resting positions when your watch is at rest off wrist, lay your watch flat dial up, but thats only good for a very few seconds gain.

The same thing that makes us all run slow. Old age and not getting our stems wound often enough!

Mine has been running slow since the day I bought it. It runs about -2 sec/day??
Are you saying that I should be concerned? I mean it is within COSC specs??

I wouldn't worry about it. As long as it's consistent, it's fine

Concerned you should be very happy thats a very accurate watch. Myself prefer + a few seconds but they do normally speed up a bit over the months

Two of the indicators of a watch in need of a service are slower running and a much lower power reserve since the oils and greases are no longer doing their job..
If your watch is underwound it will actually run slightly faster since there is less pull on the gear train and the escapement moves more freely without the extra torque and friction from the mainspring (up to a point of course.....then it stops)

I agree with what others have already said. Probably one of the main reasons your watch is running slow is because there is more friction being generated between moving parts. This is due to the possibility that the oils and lubricants are already starting to dry up.
All that extra friction also lets the balance spin slower because of the dried up oils. In turn, that extra friction leads to the whole movement working harder which lowers the power reserve of the watch. That is my theory to why a watch runs slow. Try to get the watch regulated and if the watchmaker performing the regulations recommends a service, I say you should go for it.

Had you mentioned this you would have got a different response.
Wear it daily and let it settle into YOUR lifestyle. After about 6 months check the accuracy & precision again. Or check it every day like most of us do. Then decide if it needs to be adjusted. Accuracy - How many seconds is it gaining or losing each day. Precision - Does this daily gain/lose vary each day or is it the same.

Glad to hear that I should not be concerned.
I would rather it gained on a daily basis as well, but as i mentioned it is pretty consistent in its -2 sec/day

The Oak.
First of all. Is this the new Milgauss? Parachrom Blu watches seem to start off a little slow from the factory especially if it's left in the watch winder. Is the watch more than 4 seconds slow per day? Are you wearing it and it's slow, or is it on a watch winder and it's slow. Is it equal number of seconds per day? (in the two days you've owned it) Did you give it a good 40 winds of the crown? That would put it at a full wind. No need to worry about over winding. Lastly, it's 2 days old. Let the watch settle in, relax and enjoy the watch. If it's really out of spec, take it to your dealer or an Authorized Service Center and have it adjusted. Congrats on the new watch. In regards to Ferrari owners. I have a few friends who are fortunate enough to own Ferrari F430s and the old 360s. Some have no clue about what's under the hood or specs. But they darn know well when the car wouldn't engage reverse (happened on two of the 360s) or lost more than 50% of the engine's power (hapened on one of the F430s). I just felt some things are obvious. My apologies. I'm probably PMS-ing. That darn Rolex tease on their website is too much for an old man to bear. |

No worries! It just adds to the welcoming nature of the forum when people are magnanimous to others.
50% down on power in a Ferrari F430 is still over 240 HP! I know the 'toll o'the tease' is quite hard to bear and I'm only 22! I spazzed out at Thani for talking about what the new models may be like...I regretted it later and apologized...felt better, too! SNB |

Well, I'm keeping Thani's word in mind re. the Sub as we hurtle towards Basel...as for JJ, I can only conjure sheep and some noble metal...can't remember which!

it's the GO Sport Evolution Chrono
It's consistently 8 seconds off per day on/off the wrist! The manual says the allowance is -5 to +10 per day!

What makes a watch run slow?
Being bored (i.e. long meeting)
