best place to purchase 5711?
hey guys, newbie here. been lurking for a bit and finally made up my mind to get the 5711 blue dial nautilus. my only question now is whether there is a reliable/trustworthy online retailer i can purchase from? i am sort of in the middle of nowhere in upstate new york, and the closest AD is probably in new york city... i'd prefer to purchase online though because 1, i'm sort of lazy to get into the city and 2, i don't particularly care for having a NEED to have a manufacturers warranty as long as the gray market provider gives some sort of warranty and i get the original box and papers. (i plan to keep this watch for at least 10 years if not longer). i also hope to probably avoid some tax if i get it online which, 8% of $27k is a not a small sum to save.
thanks a lot and appreciate any advice you guys can offer. edit: and what would be a fair price to pay? |

Welcome to TRF! I'd contact a trusted TRF seller here. You can read reviews and find out more about them in the Who's Who section and they can get you a great price and often direct from AD. I purchased my AP ROC BNIB from a seller on here and it came to me fully sealed, stamped, and dated with my date of purchase direct from an AD so I got the benefit of the warranty as well without paying the boutique markup.

I would call out of state AD's and buy it from the one gives you the best deal. 5711 is a watch with little discount and low production and because of that is not worth it to buy it outside the AD circle. You won't save that much, the real challenge is to find one.

I agree with jorge. 5711 discounts are slim so avoiding tax will be a small but worthwhile victory. If you want one today, call davidsw. If you can wait 3-6 months, possibly longer, call nearby out of state ADs. Govberg in Philly is solid ask for George.
Good luck and Good taste you have. |

I would build a personal relationship with an AD. For Patek I would buy local vs other routes here.

1. Buy new.
2. Buy from an AD out of state. (You could get a small discount but not much) 3. Save sales tax. 4. Be willing to wait a few months. I bought my 5711 from the Scottsdale AD and had a great buying experience. At least for me I NEVER buy high end watches used. As some posts have noted, there are several trusted sellers you can contact and I'm sure you will be fine. Only bummer with the watch is the date was getting stuck between the numbers and it is currently in NYC getting fixed (under warranty). BTW, this a known problem with some 5711s(not all). Patek needs to spend some more time with their QA department. |

I bought mine (and a bunch of other watches) from DAVIDSW on here. Check out the sales section. He is great and usually can source what you need very fast.

I waited about 6 months to get mine through my AD, which I don't think is too far from normal, but paid less than what I would have grey market, so it made sense to wait. I agree with the previous post...if you want it relatively soon, contact davidsw

really difficult to locate a PP 5711 due to low production ( as AP 15202 ) and I a suggest you to buy from a Patek AD.

YES, I did that when I bought my 5205r-010. I used a dealer that I never used before; you are kind of forced to (My PP dealers didn't have it, , because of it scarcity) My beloved PP dealer told me wait a year ! So yes start calling !

this is so true... had to call around at least 20 ADs.... everywhere it's either we don't have it in stock or we can put you on a year long waiting list..... the NYC one was 3 years long
