Watch looks good. Price wise its a bit high. There are a few sellers here that are selling for less than what you are going to pay without a diamond dial. So with a diamond dial I think its fair enough. Not a steal by any means. I'm not sure but I think the bezel is 18kt. I might be wrong though. More experts will chime in soon.

Hi v.lats97nsx,

Thanks for the input. I am definitely after a diamond dial was expecting it to be higher than regular dials. Just wanted to run it across the experts here to see if watch looks legit (with no abnormalities)

Hope to get more feedback from the vintage experts.

Cheers

Joe

Hi Im Lauf der Zeit,

I have done extended research and this watch with stick and no diamonds is worth about $2900-$3000. In your opinion the extra $695 for the diamonds with papers and box is expensive? Especially when this watch is considered rare being SS diamonds for that era when mostly are two toned with diamonds.

I would love to hear more opinions please.

Thank you all

....boxes and papers are nice add-in's but hardly worth a premium on a low demand watch like that. Some would say the diamond dial makes it worth less than more....Just saying...

Plus, without a service history and what appears to be a well worn jubilee I would said you could beat the seller up into the low $3's.

I was looking at a watch a while back, not a huge demand watch and made the seller what I felt was 2 reasonable offers. He rejected both and I walked away, a week later he e-mailed and said he'd take my price.

Sounds like you are trying to convince yourself. The price is high for a 30 year old DJ; they are not considered rare. Diamond dials are not a highly sought after option and are not generally valued higher than other dials.

If you choose to pay the 695 "extra" for the dial and box/papers, it is a choice for you. Others may not feel that a DJ warrants such a premium.

If you're set on the watch, at least make sure the dial is original to the watch. Look at the paper. If the dial came with that watch, it should be indicated on that paper.

Hi Tools,

Thank you for the input very much appreciated, this is what I am after here. However, I beg your pardon I do not think I am trying to convince myself, the question was more of a discussion when I said is the 695 extra worth the diamonds or not for the price of these diamonds on it and the papers.

I am after collecting a watch knowing its history from A-Z.

After speaking to various top members on here via PM I got confirmations that a regular stick DJ 16014 is going for 2900-3000 with about a 5% increase per year more or less and another member who specializes in diamonds (bezel and dial) reviews on this form did confirm to me that this dial did come in diamonds back in 1985 on this model. Therefore paying the extra 695 to me is nothing. I want a watch wish has a diamond bezel being my personal preference and I want the watch to have its original documentations. I would like to own a piece of history with details not just some random watch that was just bought for a heaps of a good bargain not knowing it origins. The seller is a reputable one with amazing feedback from buyers.

Cheers

Honestly my number one concern about this watch would be the top right lug. Looks over polished to the point the lug hole is exceeding the chamfer. Look closely on the 3rd picture 1st and 2nd picture its hidden. Maybe its just me. Actually that lug looks a bit deformed
