Do any of you finance your rolex?
I want a rolex sub badly. I am 23, single, own a home and have no credit card debt. I do not have the cash to buy a Rolex right now, but do you think it is dumb to have one financed?

If you can get 0% finance on a Rolex SS sports model then it's not so bad.
Just make sure that you are not stretching yourself, that's all.

A local AD has no interest for 24 months. Look for something like that.

I did for my GMT. If I save up the necessary scratch, its so much $$, I can't rationalise spending it on a watch once its saved up in a nice nest egg! If you buy with a credit card and then pay off the balance as soon as possible (ie in a few months, max) then that's that.
No accounting for logic I suppose.......... C |

0% intrest is great.
I bought my SD for 18 month 0% and SS Daytona for 24 month 0%. (Got 21 more months to go on that one.) Can't beat free $$. Putting it on a Credit Card with high intrest is not a good idea. |

i put 20% down and paid the rest on 12 months interest free credit. althought i had the cash to pay but why...when you have this offer? savings in the bank can earn you interest.
there is a marked difference between interest free credit and high percentage finance. |

If life has taught me one lesson it is this. If you don't have the spare cash to throw away on such items.....DO NOT FINANCE OR BORROW MONEY to get it.

Just make sure you put some money down. If something bad happens then at least you won't be negative if you have to sell. As long as you are responsible, credit is GREAT!

Cash only. Simple rule of thumb:
If I can't afford, I won't buy it!! And when I can afford it, I shall buy it!!

Some things like family emergencies or being in a strange town with a broken down car merit putting things on credit. Aside from a mortgage and maybe an automobile, I couldn't justify putting such a luxury item as a Rolex on credit. I waited a long time to finally get mine and I purchased it with cash. No buyers remorse, just pure pleasure knowing that I was able to buy my Rolex free and clear. I enjoy it every day!

I finance my Rolex.
He often borrows twenty quid for a night on the town...comes back all covered in strange fingerprints and with the old hairline scratch...obvious signs of a good night. I wait up until all hours worried about him, sleepless nights thinking if he is safe but he doesn't care. Not once has he ever paid me back! My wife says it's time to let go, they all grow up and move on and it's my job to help him out with a little money here and there! I don't know...sometimes I feel guilty about thinking...just at certain times.... Would an Omega have treated me in this manner? J |

Cash only. I cannot justify using a cedit card for a luxury item I don't need.

You said it all in your original post. It's great that you have your own home, but I think you should be focusing on investing your money and amassing some wealth. A Rolex is a luxury item. If I was in your situation, I'd concentrate on getting a nest egg started. It'd be your smartest move.

Actually, I charged it to get the credit card points. Then, I paid the entire balance off in cold hard cash (check).
