Hallo from Barts27 in the Netherlands

I have been lurking around for a while but it seems a good moment to introduce myself to the community. I am Barts and from the Netherlands.
I love watches all my life. It started as a young boy with Casio and Seiko quartz watches when I was 8 years old. I bought my first "real" watch when I was 12. A citizen watch.
After that I had pulsar watches and festina. I bought the first Tissot T-touch when it came on the market.
A few years ago I bought my first Pam312 and soon after that an IWC Big Pilot 5004. I am looking for a new watch in 2016 and the Rolex DSSD 44mm is on my shortlist as well as another Panerai luminor (Pam233) and the new Omega Planet Ocean Chrono (9300 movement).

I have a question about the Rolex Deep Sea Sea Dweller. When I buy this watch new (not through an AD) or a good second hand, do I need to look at the production date? Can I buy a 2008 version or is it better to buy 2014 or 2015 version. In other words; are there any differences?

Do you guys know other aspects to look at particulary?

Thanks

Barts27

You might consider the Cameron Blue DSSD which was lately released and is a real eye catcher.

Welcome!
Very minor changes in font on the dials. Pretty much unnoticeable.
Only thing to consider is that a 2008 DSSD will need a service much sooner. I'd try to get as close to new as possible.

Welcome to TRF the only differences in the DSSD since its launch are just very very minor cosmetic, but only really mainly noticed with today's WIS types. And you could not date any Rolex exactly when it was made only a approx date when the case/clasp was stamped between X&Y years.Rolex has never made a model by the year, the last two serials a single letter G plus 6 numbers, and the so called random serials mixture letters numbers but 8 digits. Now these were both released the latter part of 2010 and are still running till present time.

Thanks for the quick replies. I like beefy watches. My wrist is 8" and maybe a little bit more. My wrist can handle beefy watches. Strange but if you get used to a Panerai all watches look small and need at least 44mm. ;-)

I sold my Pam000 "logo" a few years ago. I need some movement on the dial
