What to spend my bonus on?

So I've been looking around for my next purchase and not sure what to get.

I am going back and forth between IWC Ingenieur LAUREUS edition

Or a

Bulgari Diagono Chronograph 40mm but not sure about Bulgari brand other then Tony Stark wears one 🤔

Thoughts?

And would love an AP 15300 with blue dial but hard to find

if you go on chrono 24 and I'm sure other places you can find a 15300 with blue dial, they're not so rare… Not a huge fan of IWC ad Bulgari either, AP would be much nicer...

AP. Maybe try a 15400?

Those others don't have that secret sauce a Royal Oak has IMO.

Based on what I've seen the 15400 will be too big for my wrist. I have a 7in wrist

I think you may be surprised with 15400 if you get a chance to try it on. It didn't wear big on my 6.5" wrist.

15400 will fit you. I would def suggest a 15400 or 15300 over those other options. Classic and case finishing is unrivaled.

Go with the AP or the AP Tony Stark only wears a Bvlgari because someone pays him to. Daniel Craig wears Vintage Rolex off camera and wears Omega when he has to due to contracts.

Thank you for the comparison! How comfortable do you feel the AP vs IWC?

I used to own a black dial 15300ST, and now I own a 3239 Laureus. I find the 3239 more comfortable, simply because its bracelet is more flexible and less rigid. The Royal Oak lug design and bracelet construction mean it will never be truly comfortable if you have a thinner wrist than what's ideal to a particular RO size category. E.g. I've got a cca. 6.3 inch (rather slim) wrist, and for me 37mm RO would be the right size. The 39mm 15300 wasn't an ideal fit, but I still loved it nevertheless. The 3239 favors both slim and "regular" wrists as well, and it's super comfortable to wear. My only issue with that watch is that the clasp is not 100% tight, so it tends to make a clicking noise as I move my wrist. Probably just a matter of adjustment.

But, one word of warning: do not get the Ingenieur as a more affordable variant to the Royal Oak. Because it is not that, at all. It should be appreciated as an individual watch, not just as an alternative to a sought after high-end reference. If this is not how you feel about it, then it's cool, I just wanted to clear this up ;)

Comfort was/is fine for both, the IWC bracelet having a tad bit more flexibility (literal) for my 6.5 in wrist. 2 very different watches other than fit of course. I am still in the stage of "experiencing" as many watches as possible and tired of the AP after a while. The Ingenieur gives me a lot of emotional satisfaction so it stays for now . . .

Thanks and that is good advise. In fact I feel the complete opposite. I actually like the look of the Ingenieur more the Royal Oak but the Ingenieur is often referred to as poor mans AP. Don't get me wrong I love the AP's as well and I know I should not care what others think. Just tough choice and for me will most likely come down to comfort and how it looks on my wrist so this will really require a trip or two to an AD

Going to an AD and trying them both on is highly recommended. For me it helped a lot to make a decision between the 15300ST and 5711, but it still didn't fully reveal how intricate and eye-catching the finishing on the Royal Oak. The Royal Oak comes to life under sunlight, when you start to notice how the light sparkles when you move the watch (e.g. rotate your wrist).

As for the 3239, I always liked it on photos and in videos, but thought the price was a bit steep for a non-in-house movement. The tipping point for me was when I've had a chance to try it on at the local AD: the 3239 instantly felt like the most comfortable watch I've ever tried on (or owned). It's hard to pinpoint what exactly makes it so comfortable for me, but it really feels like it was made for my wrist size and shape. Fortunately I didn't have the cash on me at that point, because I would have bought it instantly. And it would have been a mistake, since it was the black dial version, and the real killer (IMHO) is the Laureus variant which was rolled out just a few weeks after I've tried on the black dial 3239.

You make the 15300ST sound very appealing.

AP for me too but don't force it if the Laureus is what you really prefer.

The pair of you do realise Tony Stark is purely a fictional character?

For me it felt like no other watch. That's mainly because of the lugs shape (angle) and the relative inflexibility of the bracelet. It may or may not work for you, so make sure to try it on before committing to a purchase. Also try to try on a 37mm and a 41mm variant as well, to see which size is best for your wrist. Unless of course you'd change your mind and go for the Jumbo (15202) which is only available in 39mm

Stop by Tourneau and tried on the IWC, very comfortable watch!!
