"Restored and updated???"

Wow. And it looks as if they're looking for a premium after "updating" these guys:

Well...I am sure there is a market for those products, but I am not part of it.

Should be illegal to do this to a perfectly good Rolex. Kind of similar to putting a slice of fruit into a perfectly good glass of beer. And what's up with the prices they have posted? Ridiculous!

Not a chance.

They all look completely lifeless and bland. Even if they are nice in their own way, their photography is really making the product look cheap and unappealing.

Curious if the restoration meant they serviced with authentic Rolex parts?

Absolutely right - people are buying these so they're modifying them...

The pics make these lovely watches look more like a cheap toy to me, but maybe they have better presence in real life.

I think they look great but I am not in the market for one. While quite cool right now I don't think the trend will last.

They are able to do some very creative things with watches and I appreciate that.

Akin to drawing a mustache on the Mona Lisa. And for a premium to boot?

Yeah, no.

I'm with you. I'll be the minority also.

I've modified my explorer 2 with a blue gmt hand, and the numbers on the bezel colored the same blue. I even had the case back engraved with my favorite quote: never give up.

I think those watches just have a unique flavor.

Heck I personalize all my "toys:". Cars, guns, Oakley Juliet's, computer room. Just about everything that I can upgrade. It just makes an already unique item "mine" or one of a kind.

Not for me either. Blakey has some cool pieces in their vintage line, where they took old styles and updated them with new cases, engraved rehaut, etc. I could go for those modern vintage ones, but the black coating is not for me.
