Patek Nautilus vs. Rolex Oyster SS Bracelets

Chaps, as an owner of both brands and bracelets with the onset of warmer weather, I'm curious what your thoughts are on both. Do you favor one over the other ? If so, why ? Does the finishing on a Patek bracelet outweigh the Oyster for you ?

Thanks for the candid responses !

wow how to answer - 5711 is so comfy AND elegant. Id say rolex is robust and comfy (but slightly less - weighs more etc). If im raking bracelets its goes:

VC OS
PP
AP
Rolex

this is the cream though so #4 ain't bad and of course its #1 on worry free use.

The latest Oysters with the Easylink extension are the most comfortable to me, especially in the summer when I'm in air conditioning and then outdoor heat. I love the Nautilus bracelet, it's light and flexible, but it's not adjustable for a wrist that swells and shrinks throughout the day.

Easylink is a godsend.

You can't compare finishing on any part of a Nautilus with a Rolex, and for comfort the difference is huge, after getting my 5712 the comfort on my Rolex was so bad in comparison that I couldn't stand wearing them and sold the 3...

In what way are they superiorly finished to the AP ROO’s, VC Overseas’, and Girard Perregaux Laureato's bracelets?

Sure you can. Rolex makes a much better bracelet.

The AP RO RG has probably the nicest bracelet I've ever handled but maybe too nice to actually wear . I love my RG Nautilus bracelet, it is very smooth and silkily drapes my wrist like no other, while the YG Subs Oyster is also a fine solid bracelet plus it has the glidelock.

As has been said, the 5711 bracelet is beautiful, elegant, and silky smooth. When fitted perfectly, it's nearly impossible to beat. However, when the temp fluctuates and the wrist swells and shrinks, a Rolex oyster with glide lock is probably the better option

The Patek Nautilus bracelet is very thin with a clasp that's almost seamless. The Rolex bracelet is much chunkier with a very bulky clasp. Both are comfortable but the Rolex adds a ton of visual mass to the wrist.

I'll leave you guessing. Whatever I say, you say the opposite.

Ah, the old play the man (ad hominem) response – well done. </slow handclap>
Word to the (not so) wise, I will definitely not be guessing – but you’re more than welcome to expound your proposition further.
Maybe, if done convincingly, it could cause me to rethink my view.

The Nautilus, RO, and Overseas bracelets are all finished so well that it comes down to preference (which can change daily). As for Rolex bracelets, they're amazingly comfortable (now), but I wouldn't put them in the same class regarding finishing.

Nautilus is a piece of art though Rolex is better.

I much prefer the oyster to all other bracelets. I think the RO has the best finishing and the nautilus bracelet is most comfortable in steady climate. That said, it leaves a lot to be desired in terms of the clasp. YMMV

An ROO bracelet with a glidelock of sorts would be killer.

Ahh the GP Laureato. The love child of a RO and a nautilus.

5711> Sub for me.

I do miss the glide-lock at times (rare warm days) but the 5711 looks the part and almost weightless on the wrist.

I wonder what it would be like to have a light weight watch head like the 5711 on a robust bracelet like the sub :)

While the easy link is nice, my Patek bracelet feels better

Both are fantastic.
The nautilus bracelet does cause me some concern that if I didn't give it at least a little thought, I would bend/crush it ... That is not a concern with a oyster bracelet.

Both bracelets are great and look good. Oyster is thicker, more robust (although I doubt my nautilus bracelet will ever fail) and has easy link. It's not as well finished - my Daytona bracelet still squeaks after 3 months.

Nautilus is thinner, more refined and elegant. The clasp has no adjustment, but if it did it wouldn't be as thin, so not an issue for me.

I think both are perfect for what they are designed for.
