Two Nomos (Nomii?) Watches - Ahoi and Orion
I recently bought my first Nomos, the Orion 38. I loved it so much that I went straight out and bought another Nomos (!), the Ahoi Atlantik Datum. Both are amazing watches in my opinion, and while certainly not "cheap", the value they offer is superb.
The Orion I use as my dress watch on the provided black Horween strap, but I also dress it down using the lighter velour strap shown in the pictures. I was a bit worried 38mm would be too large as a dress watch, but I think I get away with it on my 7.25 inch wrist. Similarly I feared the Ahoi might be too large because of it's long lugs, but again I think it fits me nicely. It's obviously very different to the Orion, but that was the point really - while I love manual wind pieces (and the Orion has a beautiful winding feel!), I wanted to try an automatic Nomos as well, and something visually (and functionally) very different. I didn't much like the supplied perlon strap so changed it to another Nomos velour, this time in anthracite which matches the dial very well I think. (Sorry for so many photos, I went a bit mad!) |

Awesome watches! The Orion 38 looks fine on you. I went with the 35 for my 6.75" wrist.

Great choices!
Good to see some of the lesser known brands getting the spotlight. The Germans make damn fine watches! |
