Icon8 Service of watches

Dear Members,

I was wondering what your views are in regard to having spent over £1,200 pounds on the servicing of two watches and having nothing but a plastic card for one namely a Rolex and the other nothing !!!

Now when you service a car you get an invoice with a breakdown of what work was done I am not impressed with the fact that these major watch houses have you over a barrel as regards what they tell you and after making inquiries I learn't nothing

And the fact that they hold all parts replaced really gets my back up !!!!

your views and comments welcome

Regards

Walter

Everytime my Sub was serviced I got a invoice with a breakdown of what was done and a breakdown of pricing. I'm in the U.S. It was purchased by my dad in 1984 and I have all service records. Maybe it was just where you had it serviced.

Firstly, where we these watches serviced? To my knowledge reputable service centers give you a list of the work that was completed

Good morming Walter. When I send my watches in for service (RSC) I get a detailed invoice specifying the work done and parts exchanged.

Did you know that there are different repair people, who may (just maybe) have different policies? I'v had all sorts of break downs, and replaced parts returned. Sinn is one factory example.

Regarding Rolex servicing and assuming it's a RSC service.

It's customary for them to provide a quotation for you to approve the work before they will proceed, otherwise the watch will be returned to you.
In that event I'm confident one would know the scope of work performed.

Also I'm not sure why one would want the old worn parts returned as they're deemed not fit for service.
