Restoring Rolex 6694
Hello,
My father gave me his 6694, I own a 16600 & 16710 that I service at the AD, but as I've read that I should not take a vintage to rolex. so my question now, who is the best person who can restore my fathers watch? He passed away recently and I'd like to keep this watch running, it works just fine but I'm unable to change the date unless I move the dial over 12. condition wise I'd give it 8 out of 10, but i'm not sure about the movement, I have all the tools but do not really want to open it, I messed up the 16600 once and it costed me a lot of time to fix it. Also I been wearing it for 2 hours now and it keeps the time fine. It has a 1XXXXXX serial number, now sure how old it is but he said he got it in the sixties. and that it was a gold watch that used to leave black like ink on his hand and in the seventies he took it to rolex and they changed the case to a steel one. I cannot confirm this since I couldn't find any gold 6694 online and the story is about 40+ years so it could be another watch that he got mixed up with? but the watch is gold all over the dial and legs. Thank you and sorry for the long read. |

1) I don't think it needs a service, will be too much a risk to bring it to RSC
2) Yes there are gold capped 6694s seen a few myself before sent from BOOOOOOOOOM |
