5711 vs 5712 blue - different?
Does anyone own both watches or have seen both at the same time? I saw a 5712 in person a while back and thought that the dial was more grey blue (rather than pure blue) than I thought it would be, even under lighting.
However, yesterday someone showed me their 5711 in person and the blue looked absolutely amazing, even better than all the pictures I've seen on here. Are the blues on these two just different? Or maybe just my eyes playing tricks |

Don't mean to burst your bubble but your name is not actually on the "list" unless you buy other watches first. Think about it, the list is 100+, they get 1 or 2 a year, you do the math. They will push for their top customers to get the most sought after models as soon as possible in hopes of bringing more business

Exactly the same blue on 5711/5712/5980, now the 5711p and the TT 5980 have 2 different blue dials much more blue, both great, the pt being the ultimate blue dial, amazing really, but in SS all the naut models have the same blue dial no difference at all, there is on their website but it is exactly the same

Seen them both, and have a 5711 blue.. the dial is a lot more exposed in the 5711 and there is space for the sunburst effect, the 5712 dial is blue but there isn't much space because of the power reserve, seconds and moon phase, so the dials react to light very differently.

The pics on the Patek site make the colors appear different, but in real life I believe they are the same, with some subtleties due to the sunburst / differences in open space mentioned above

The call I received from Tiffany was to see if I wanted to come in and buy the Tiffany marked 5711 blue dial. So, I'm not saying anything close to what you said previously, in fact I'm saying that the 100 plus list you referred to and previous purchase history had nothing to do with getting the call. Why do you want to discourage potential buyers from finding a Tiffany dial 5711 by making it seem almost impossible when it really isn't. Last comment I'll make regarding this.

This is especially true for sought after pieces like the 5711 A or in P or even a 5167 A. Ps. The blue on both 5711 and 12 is the same...I have both and the 5712 has so many going on the dial that the dial color cannot stand out as a cleaner dial could. |

It's the same magical blue on both the references... however since the dial on the 5712 is more busy, it can give the a very slightly difference shine...

Some points may help -5712 w/o central seconds -5712 has the microrotor movement cal.240 -5712 has no sticking date feature ,some 5711 still has:-) -5712 WR only 60m -5711 more popular on the secondary market

Thanks! Central seconds doesnt bother me! 240 Cal and no sticking issue is cool and I guess something to consider. Seems quite a few had this problem just on the forum alone. Prob wouldnt swim with either to be honest 5711 "hotter" market wise but UK AD told me 5712 now has 2 year waiting list so guess getting more popular! Guess sensible thing is to start with 5711 as easier to upgrade then the other way around if need be since more in demand. Other thing on my mind is an Aquanaut at some point so guess would make sense to have a final combo of a plain dial and complication i.e. 5711 & 5164 or 5172 & 5167 Should be in London next week so going to find grey dealers which have some of these in stock just so I can try (5711 unlikely but others poss) |

Strangely, I find the dial of 5712 look more like a grayish tone instead of blueish tone like many photos on the web. But it's an amazing piece either blue or gray.

i wouldn't base my decision even if the difference in shade is more than 5% , i think you either like a simple dial or you need more action on the dial. A personal call more than shade decision.
Good luck bro !
