Quite true. The main thing is you're happy. Don't think of it from an investment standpoint. Congrats and ENJOY!

At the Rolex Boutique I placed a deposit on one of these about three months ago and finally got it last week.

I also about two months ago put my name on the list with no deposit at Ben Bridge. Since a manager at another Ben Bridge told me these allocated watches were only sold to customers with a purchase history, I thought I would never get one. Damn if I didn't get a call this past friday from Ben Bridge telling me my watch had arrived. I could have bought two, but decided one was enough.

A great watch without a doubt. I wouldn't pay over RRP but you've got what you wanted without the wait so good for you. Enjoy

If you're happy with it, and could afford the premium, then it's all good!

Awesome watch love mine. Was also considering buying from grey dealers but then got lucky as mine came in. 1500 is a reasonable premium to pay. Most I've seen are 2-3k over list. So you got a pretty good deal.

Thats why list price is relative. Considering you are UK based, list price is £8250 and if you bought it at list where you could find one (in the US) considering how far the pound has fallen it would cost you £10,122 (US retail of $12,350 converted into GBP). So you could pay £1872 over list in the UK and be getting it at the same cost to you as you if you bought it at a US AD at list price.

In demand models are impossible to find here, as non GBP currencies get a massive discount just based on exchange rate, if they can also get the VAT back the discount is even bigger. IE, an american could buy the model in London at list for just over $10K and with the VAT refund it would be $8k (a savings of over $4300 from the US price). Thats why you can't find anything here. The D blue was hard to find before brexit, but impossible now.

Until they raise prices here, be prepared to pay over list. When they raise prices still be prepared to pay over list as a 10% raise isn't going to eliminate the discount on exchange rate that non GBP currencies get by buying in the UK. They would have to raise prices 30% + in order to make a Rolex cheaper for an american to buy in america than to buy here. Its similar for the european currency too.

Gary,

Many congratulations

I echo what you said and well done for making the purchase.

Without repeating myself, if the watches are being sourced in E.U. they are going to be over UK current list price.

Anyway, here is the post I submitted on anouther thread in case it was missed.

"And Ok, as an ex pat from the UK who unfortunately receives his monthly pension in, what used to be the old GBP......here is what has happened to me.

I hope this puts a few prices in perspective, and the gray dealers that probably have to source in the E.U.

When I purchased one in Vienna during November 2015 the exchange rate I was debited by Lloyd's was £1 = €1.4183......Great price!!

When I purchased during June of this year the exchange rate debited by Lloyd's was £1 to €1.283

Therefore my SD4K was already a little bit more expensive than the UK, but I have a super relationship with my AD in Vienna and hopefully this has now lead to......

My Daytona, due anytime now is. €11350 ...now at today's rate of €1.1247 it will cost me in my GBP £10,091.28....NOW THAT IS GONNA BE HARD.

If I was in the U.K. at this present moment in time.....I would definitely be searching for my next Rolex.

Get out there folks and get the one you want .......before the price goes up"

AGAIN, WELL DONE GARY FOR GETTING THE ONE YOU WANT

I don't think it matters if you want something. Someone said - I can't remember who - that the quality of an expensive purchase is still enjoyed and appreciated long after the price is forgotten.

Hello from up the M62..... Manchester.
Was it from Watchfinder in that arcade in Leeds? I bought a YM from them earlier this year and they had 2 deep blue displayed instore.

If you were going to wait for one through an AD, by the time you got it, you would probably be paying that as list price......if not more.
So it may turn out to be good value in the long run.
