Agree and I did so too, the dial text still bothers me and had it been on the caseback I would be thinking seriously of buying the 5711p. I like baguettes most of all for diamonds and I think it works on the 5711 but not so much on the sporty chrono dial where they juxtapose too sharply.

surprising how quick the opinions are softening on these two (with a couple of exceptions).

just a short while ago, it seemed like people were ready to toss their own pateks in the river in protest over this release.

here's hodinkee's recent take:

Especially when macro pics above show so much is so right, very frustrating.

Wow, some of those photos look absolutely stunning. The way the blue colour of the dials changes is amazing!

It's interesting because this 'poll' most either still don't like or want to wait.

Looking forward to first to show here from a TRF member who actually owns one.

is this going to be one of those cases where the unwanted seemingly unpopular reference ends up going nuts at auction years down the road?

Seeing newer pictures I am liking, still want to see in person. The anniversary dates seem to be more discrete based on newer pics than the original photos indicated.
However as much as I like them (especially the 5711p), the price is beyond what I would pay for a watch at this time.

I wouldn't be surprised. The 5976 and 5524 in particular.

Or to put it another way, most either like or want to wait

Personally I still want to wait. I'm starting to like them (I certainly don't dislike them), but to be honest a big part of the attraction is the fact that they are limited anniversary models. If the anniversary 5711/1p was a regular production model in the catalogue alongside the previous version, I'd go for the non anniversary model. Likewise a 5976/1a would be very nice.

I had an opportunity to see the chronograph model in person and thought it looked great.

I'm reading conflicting information on the forum about availability and the allocation process. Are both models truly so over subscribed that they created an application process through AD's?
