For what it's worth: I just got off the phone with my AD. He said that he nor any other ADs he's talked with have heard from Rolex that the 116600 is discontinued but all the ADs he has spoken with believe it has been.
We will all know soon enough at Basel.

If that actually happens the current SDc will become super collectable in the future, having only been available for sale between Q2 2014 and Q1 2017. That would be one of the shortest production runs in history!

On what basis? The fact that it cannot be ordered?

Yes, he also noted that his rep has shut down for a month and will not be by until after Basel. He's is a longtime friend of mine and he stays just as in the dark as we do when it comes to knowing any info from Rolex until they want the world to know.

I read from Asian Rolex discussion group on inventory direction.

Yes, the SD4000 116600 is gone and will sell out remaining stock.
The new replacement is a larger 42mm 216600 SD in green.

I would be more even excited about this then I would the 42mm redline and I am already pretty stoked about the possibility for it!

I'd be pretty pumped for a 42mm Green as well or a 42mm w/ D-Blue treatment! Red line 42mm wouldn't be so bad either If they split the difference between the water resistance of the SD4K and the Deep Sea, that would be pretty awesome too

I know that black DSSD sales are also very slow and the D-Blue is likely to be discontinued at some point now the moment of celebration it represented has long passed...
Hi, I picked up a D-Blue DSSD from my AD a few weeks ago, ordered several months before Christmas, he said they are still available to order. He also said that he has heard nothing about the SD4K being discontinued or regarding the introduction of new models at Basel.

That's exactly what I heard from my trusted AD. Can't wait!

The plot thickens....color me interested (despite not having the vintage dream nods like red text, domed crystal, etc).

I think the green may be correct but the size change would be a significant move. I can't see Rolex selling both a 40mm and 42mm Sea Dweller 4000, yet ditching 40mm after less than three years would be a huge financial failure.

So are all the 116600's really "gone" gone from AD's? As in, there are none left...anywhere? That would suck as I'd finally just talked myself into getting one.

Really?!

That's cool for all who are interested in it, but it makes me appreciate my 116600 even more...

I don't think it would necessarily be a financial failure. Rolex could always gain synergies from their tooling at a future date, if they were to temporarily stop using certain tools. I wouldn't be all that shocked to see the next generation Submariner's case look very close to the current SD4K 40mm. Problem solved. I'm not saying a 42mm SD is for certain, just that they wouldn't necessarily lose as much money as you may initially think if they made the switch.

My AD has a 116600 currently in stock too.
A 42mm red line with domed crystal would have me at hello.

I could see them going to 42 in black and green, it it would be tough for me to envision them going to just a green model. The SD isn't a big seller in black, why would they make it only green?

Traditionally, black dial is the base model (especially true for a professional dive watch). Only after that, Rolex may launch different color scheme on special occasion.

I would be surprised if Rolex renew SD4000 with dial color other than black. If the rumored green gradient turn out to be true, I think Rolex is going to make 2, 1 in black and 1 in gradient green.

Hoping that Rolex will have a new black dial SD4000 coz I don't like green dial.....!

I can't see Rolex offering both a Green SD and a Green Sub. Maybe the Green Sub will be discontinued?

Maybe they will continue to make the black dial model, however switch to a gloss dial...effectively discontinuing the satin dial version as previously rumored. As well, if they offer a green dial anniversary SDC4K, they might discontinue the 116610 LVC...resulting in both the Satin SDC and the Hulk being discontinued.

Beings that I currently own both of those watches, I'd be totally cool with that!

I heard the rumor of the LVc being discontinued too, do you think it holds any weight? I haven't heard of any ADs not being able to order them. If that's the case I really need to jump on one now even if it means selling my LN (I can pickup one of those anytime.)

They have that in the Pelagos, along with a 42mm black, so I think a 40mm model as it is now but with green accents is most likely what's on the cards. Look at how a simple colour change boosted demand and desirability of the DSSD...
