"Factory diamond dial" and "Style number"...Help please!

Hello,

I am contemplating about buying a used Datejust with a diamond dial. However, I am not sure if the diamonds are in fact "Rolex factory" (as claimed by a seller) or "aftermarket" (in which I will be disappointed).

Can we tell if the watch has a "factory diamond dial" from the "style number" printed on the warranty paper?

For instance, I have two style numbers here:

R1623336VB6252

R1623332GB6252

Did the above numbers tell us anything about the dial?

Please please help! Thank you so much in advance.

There are 2 ways for sure you can tell if its factory

1. buy one fro a AD

2. Ceck the warintey card from Rolex it will state what the watch came with from Rolex

Other than that beware!!! Some fakes are really really good!

John,

One more thing if you could please help...

Does the word "Serti" necessarily/always imply "diamond dial"?

Thanks a million!

No, serti can also be a combination of precious stones. example: Diamond and Sapphire dial.

Hey John, is there an online source for the style number info you provided? That was pretty cool.

Thanks and regards,

Jed

Hey there Jed

I'm not sure if there is an online source. The information supplied was from The Rolex Report.
