Officer Down East Baton Rouge Parish SO, LA
Sergeant Shawn Anderson was shot and killed at approximately 11:00 pm yesterday while investigating a rape.
He and another officer had gone to a salon at 1962 O'Neal Lane to interview the suspect. A struggle ensued during the interview in which Sergeant Anderson was fatally shot. The subject was wounded during the incident and taken into custody. Sergeant Anderson had served with the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office for 18 years. I just hate reading and hearing of these countless tragedies that occur 'in the line of duty'. They happen all too frequently and leave nothing but sadness and loss behind. Condolences to Sergeant Anderson's family and colleagues. As for the suspect, no comment.
