You cannot over-wind you could wind it 800 times with no problem,when the mainspring is fully wound up a mechanism in the spring-barrel just lets it slips.

Yep

Otherwise wearing the watch would even cause overwinding as the rotor is constantly moving, that is why they invented the slipping mainspring/barrel system.
