Selling a few watches question

Hi All,

I became a member in 2012 because this was the best place I could find for me to do some reading on some Rolex watches that a friend asked me to sell for him. Fast forward to 2017, my friend is asking me again to sell some watches for him. I don't know exactly what he wants to sell yet, but I expect Panerai, Rolex, and Omega to be potential makes. I ended up selling previously through Ebay, which was uneventful, but too many fees and a real potential to be scammed, so I thought I might list them in the classifieds here. That way true dialogue can actually take place. I assume once I become a pledged member I can post since my actual member status is back to 2012? Thoughts? Is there another selling mechanism that I am missing?

+1, normally not a good idea and forum rules may prohibit it.

I agree with that, but he is a 67yo neurosurgeon who has no time, knowledge, or inclination to try get these to any kind of end user. He would be guaranteed to take a beating on value trying to sell them local to a dealer, and he has been one of my few and best friends for many years....so here I am. :-) Guns are my forte' not watches, but in my world, in communities like this, there is always decent people to help navigate something like this, and he may very likely have something someone here wants. I know he would love to see his stuff go to someone who appreciates it.

I did the pledge, but I don't see it tagged to me...

Since you have zero feedback here I suggest your friend contacts one of our trusted sellers with exactly what he has and find out what he will get for his watches. It's simple quick and easy.

Hmmm...I like that idea, but I do know, at least locally, the loss going through a dealer is significant, which has been a factor in choosing to try to sell directly to an end purchaser.

I recommend the above as well as SOHAIS or Briboxer as well. But don't sell for someone else. That can be a sticky wicket.

Out of curiosity, what type, models, of watches are you/he looking at selling?
