Go try the 6 digit on, if you like it better and makes you more satisfied, then is worth it. Others already mentioned the other upgrades of the 6 digit. I personally confuse with ease 5 and 6 digit between them, from a "far" distance, so the change wouldn't necessary be an obvious one. Since you say your watch runs perfectly, keeping on to it would also be a great idea. It might not be the case of your watch, but if it has a slightly purple hue to the dial, you'll might find that more appealing, if you like it, as you'll won't experience it with the 6 digit that much. I understand you bought the 16613 used, do you want to get the 6 digit new? You love the LB TT Sub Date, so you may want to treat yourself in this case.

About your question

I would send 16613 to Rolex to do a full service and keep the watch. Other than that I suppose the change is for a new one without use. There you could say that it suits you but if it is for a used 116613 in no way suits you. It is my humble opinion.

When I was considering the TT sub I initially thought the 6 digit was the way to go. I was interested in black / gold combo. I ended up with the 5 digit with gold vs white text, slimmer case and smaller pots. It was at least $4k less and since I don't wear it that much I am happy with the 5 digit. If you wear it frequently get the one you really want.

If the additional money you will have to shell out isn't a strain on you, I say go for it. I have a 116613lb and my dad has a 16613lb. I love the upgrades of the bracelet on mine compared to his. I'm also a fan of how the ceramic looks compared to the aluminum insert on his. It really comes down to personal preference.

To answer your question about people noticing...I think the average joe will not notice a difference. A wis type will. My brother-in-law is heavy into cars. He can spot subtle difference that I can't. On the flip side, he knows nothing about watches other than he likes the way the rose gold Daytona looks. I pointed out an older seadweller to him one day and I might as well be speaking a foreign language. So no, most people will not notice. Buy for you and what u like, not for what people may or may not notice.

Upgrade time!!!

I'm just about to do exactly that. Picking up my new 116613 next week....and then the 16613 will be sold. I love my old watch....and it's gonna cost me about $2,750 to upgrade if all goes according to plan. Has to be done!!!

Like others have already stated go try the the new on to see if the upgrades are worth the $4k to you. I have a 16613lb and am very happy with it. I don't like how the ceramic bezel and dial don't match. Let us know what you decide to do.

Yes I would trade it plus 4K for the 116613 but I like the new ceramic versions more.

I would. 6 digits is a major upgrade. Design and executed to serve many years.
