Apply, apply.....no reply!!

That's right, guys...I've been applying my e-mail to several of our old friends to come and join us at TRF; but no reply.

I cannot for the life of me understand why they would want to miss out on all this fun. Perhaps some of you can be a bit more persuasive.
Good luck on that - JJ

My feeling is that a lot of people don't like change. Also that other place seems to hold people to ransom, if you criticise them or show loyalty to another forum they ban you, we know this from experience. It could be our old friends have found a niche for themselves and don't want to risk being ejected from it and then losing contact with old friends.

JJ, some of those people may already be members here, but not under names you'd recognize.

Another thing to consider is that while this is a very nice forum, with great people, you've got to admit that "all this fun" is on a rather small scale.

Also, what Adrian says is true -- unfortunately. I think that attitude with lighten up over time, though, so maybe more people will begin dropping in here for a visit.

Some folks over there also have business ties with certain members too, so that, with the risk of banning could also factor in.

I think that if they choose too, they will come in time. I don't think that it is at all fair to them to "pressure" them into joining here. They may feel they are getting the "us or them" treatment and that is not right.

Just because they decide not to post here, that doesn't mean they are not friends. We have a great, yet small and growing place here, in time it will get larger and they will always be welcome to join, or not join.

Either way, they will still remain friends with the lot of us.

I've noticed quite a few guests are on here most of the time. Right now there are 5 guests and 4 members on TRF. My guess is that at least a few of these guests are some of our old friends who are checking this place out and possibly trying to make a decision as to whether to make themselves known here. My thought is that they will do that if and when they feel comfortable here. I don't think we should pressure anyone into joining TRF. People should make the choice to join freely and willingly.

I feel badly if people don't join because they fear being shut out somewhere else. But that reflects on those other places, not on TRF.

To those of you who think that participation here is the kiss of death at "that other forum" - I think you are just plain wrong on this one.

Simply participating on one forum doesn't get you banned on another although the manner in which you participate might. If you think I'm wrong, then you'd better e-mail Peter (Manatee) and ask him what his secret is because he freely participates in both forums and has been doing so openly for months with no repercussions (at least none that he has mentioned - by the way - My hat's off to you, Peter, for doing that so nicely ).

Passing thought - Has anyone e-mailed Denny yet? He could be a valuable contributer here as well.

As I have read in past post's referanceing this... No one cares if you post on both forums just that what happens here or there isn't also posted else where. (the "he said she said" things) I hope everyone relizes this and restrains in doing so.
